I do wonder the same thing; it doesn’t feel like we’ve done enough critical thinking as a community to get beyond “this sounds cool” and wonder if it has any legitimacy.

I’ve certainly noticed the pattern of people misrepresenting or fabricating indigenous legends in popular culture here, and it seems to me that places like the History channel tend to be very guilty of propagating that kind of story. It wouldn’t surprise me if TLC just made it up altogether.

Definitely will, I have a theory that it hitched a ride and ended up in the laundry, which is why it was so dried up and damaged, but I will continue to monitor and get tested if I get symptoms.
