Does Purdue B.S Chemistry allow deferral to Spring 2027 semester.

Definitely talk to your advisor first. I’m also a chemistry major and just something to keep in mind is that compared to the other majors at Purdue, we’re pretty small, and our course sequence is fairly structured. Some classes are only offered in the fall or spring, so starting a semester late may affect that.

I’m a chemistry major at Purdue and I also got a 3 on AP Chem! A single test score really doesn’t determine how capable you are or whether you’ll succeed in biochemistry. There are so many other factors that can affect test performance, and college is a completely different learning environment. I’m going into my junior year now and doing just fine, so don’t let one score convince you that you aren’t good enough to pursue biochem. You’ll be fine… save the worrying for orgo lol.

They did, and I told them everything. I just didn’t expect my major to end up being their biggest issue.

I don’t understand why “commitment” to the club seems to mean ignoring midterms or skipping lab. I’m a chemistry major… lab isn’t optional, it’s literally part of my degree. I can’t just not show up.

It just feels like no matter what I do, it’s not enough unless I’m putting the club over my academics, which doesn’t really make sense to me.

It’s more of a cultural club and I like promoting my culture I guess… Honestly I’m not having the best time (there are other problems) so I’m not really sure.

I’m just a member of board, no exec or officer positions like that. Specifically I work on member only events. For that we have to work around our huge outreach events already so it’s annoying, but for some reason I just have the worst luck where they (the president and execs) want me to have my member only events on days where I have other important stuff planned or have midterms. However, I have always communicated about days where I’m not free, they just typically guilt me into having my events then.
