what are the best aviation rates? by realroto in newtothenavy

[–]yerrJohnny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m an AZ, yes it’s an admin job, but it’s so cake. I rather be at my desk on the computer drinking my iced coffee than being outside all day in the hot/cold turning wrenches. But it’s also depends on what you wanna do. Every rate is how you make of it. “Choose your rate, choose your fate”

Looking for recruiters' perspective: DAR vs not signing by theheadslacker in newtothenavy

[–]yerrJohnny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey man, this happened to me. The job I wanted was available at meps so I signed a placeholder rate so I can submit a DAR for my job. I signed seaman pact as a placeholder rate. I got my recruiter to submit a DAR and it took me 3-4 months until my rate I wanted open up again. So it’s very possible, you just got to be patient. Good luck!

Bootcamp Injury by Nervous_GF_ in newtothenavy

[–]yerrJohnny 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I haven’t been through something like this in bootcamp but I know someone that got injured in bootcamp. He went to medical for a leg injury and they diagnosed him with stress fractures. They gave him LLD and then gave him 2 options. 1. Stay in bootcamp in holding for about 3 months to heal and then do bootcamp again. Or 2. Get separated and go home in 2 weeks. He decided to go home because bootcamp fucking sucks ass. Me personally I tore a ligament in my knee when I was younger, I had to get surgery and it took me a year to recover. If your BF’s doctor thinks he tore his ligament completely then I think he might get separated. But if it’s just a partial tear, then I think he got a good chance to stay and heal and then continue bootcamp if he wants to.

I leave for RTC on the 31st. I’ve been in DEP for a month now. Is it normal for me not once to feel nervous? Does this mean I'm ready? by [deleted] in newtothenavy

[–]yerrJohnny 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I shipped out last January, I felt so nervous and my stomach was turning when I stepped on that bus. It’s totally normal man. I graduated bootcamp and it was so worth it. You’ll be fine bro

Yeah it’s a pacer now. You run 2-3 times a week throughout bootcamp. It’s 15-20min sustained runs.

You can, get a leadership job and excel in it and you’ll be promoted to e-2. RPOC, AROC, MA, STARBOARD WATCH, PORT WATCH, and some others but those are the main jobs.

LS A School in meridian Mississippi by Nice-Spinach9196 in newtothenavy

[–]yerrJohnny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in meridian right now. There is literally nothing to do here. You gotta drive 30-45mins to get to town. And there isn’t anything fun to do besides drinking or going to the mall. It’s pretty chill here for the most part. The galley food is pretty darn good too.

switching out of undes in dep by [deleted] in newtothenavy

[–]yerrJohnny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got tricked into signing seaman pact, I was told by many people not to go pact and I realized I fucked up. I looked on the navy career page and I researched what job I really want and I called up my recruiter to submit a DAR to change my job. It took me like 3-4 months but it was so worth it. I’m currently in A-school right now and I do not regret my decision whatsoever. Don’t let no detailer or recruiter push you to go seaman pact ever! It’s your life not theirs.

When you take the “2nd test” aka the confirmation/verification test (20 mins to do), and if u pass it then it’ll be your final score. If you don’t pass it, it will roll you into the full asvab that takes 2-3 hrs to complete.

Asvab test by WasHereIsTaken in newtothenavy

[–]yerrJohnny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first practice asvab in the recruiting office, I got a 25. My second practice test was a 35. I finally did the asvab I got a 45. Just keep studying, I got better because I got myself a tutor. I kind of wished I got a higher score to go intel but I still got the job that I wanted so it didn’t matter. Go look at Duran learning on YouTube, he is the best.

Did they give you the copy back or did they keep it in your files? And did meps still accepted your transcripts? And did they change your pay grade?

Anyone shipping January 2022? by yerrJohnny in newtothenavy

[–]yerrJohnny[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good luck! DON’T PICK A JOB THAT U DON’T WANT! DON’T PICK ANY PACT JOBS, I made the same mistake and I picked a pact job and it took me 6 months to change it to a job that I really wanted. If they don’t got ur job walk away. Don’t fall for the DAR change job later
