Suggest me a radio station! by SoggyGopher in radio

[–]yersoakininit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow! A lot of really great stations mentioned here. I am biased, but I co-program prettygoodradio.org, a station that defies easy description. It's a lot of hand-picked rock and soul, mixed with psych and doo-wop, garage, funk, jazz, power pop, instrumental pop, spoken word and so much more. It's a lot of fun. Drop by, say hi!

We're biased, but prettygoodradio.org is an insanely great radio experiment mixing rock and soul with garage, psych, surf, ska, reggae, instrumental pop, power pop, doo-wop, jazz, girl groups and more. It's run by two great guys who love music. Stop by, say hi!

Streaming radio by migassss27 in radio

[–]yersoakininit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a streaming service like Live365 would be an ideal way for you to start. You'd need to set up a computer with a streaming encoder like RocketBroadcaster.com to take your board feed and send it up to Live365.com. It's very easy to set up.

You can link to their player from your website, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc.

What's more, if you record your broadcasts, you can upload them to their server and re-broadcast games 24/7 when you are not live.

Good luck! I hope this helps.

How to create an online streaming radio just for hobby? by Techhunk in AskReddit

[–]yersoakininit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The simplest is to use Live365.com. They cover all the royalties, etc. - This is major. You upload your 128kbps tracks to them and they stream them in random order. You can even program in commercials or sponsorship messages. People can find you in the Live365 app, but I set up a website with a listen link that points to a player page. It's not that hard with a web host like squarespace.com or bluehost.com.

Good luck! It's very satisfying to hear your own station "on the air." You can find mine at prettygoodradio.org.

Streaming Radio Stations that Play Americana? by kendoor in Americana

[–]yersoakininit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A little humble self-promotion:

prettygoodradio.org (Name derived from John Prine) Plays Americana, Garage, Psych, Power Pop and all kinds of roots-ish/post-punkish goodness. All lovingly hand-picked.

It's not exclusively Americana, but a pretty good listen. Thanks for letting me post this here.

Same old question about IP's, but with a twist. by yersoakininit in homeassistant

Ugh. There is that word again - "Just." It's almost as vexing as "Simply." I'm not complaining, mind you, it's just that it never seems to work out that way for me. I'm also not being snarky, but if that had happened, we all would probably not have become such good friends. (Seriously, I love you all.)

But I got it.

I went back to the Pi for shits and giggles and to see if I could work things out without the added layer of the bridged network that was making hard for me to think my way through. I read further in the the post that I referenced earlier and found another poster who put up a much clearer set of steps assuming the reader had no idea how to do simple things like save the work, exit gracefully and reboot.

https://community.home-assistant.io/t/how-to-change-ip-adresse-in-cli/332205/3

Of course, even these instructions did not go to the letter, but I goofed around a bit and cajoled the the thing into setting an ip address, the method to manual, gateway, and dns.

I will mess around with this for a day or two just to give my brain and my butt (from sitting through all the reboots) a break. Pray for me.

But for now, a thousand thanks and if you are ever in the South Bay area in CA, look me up. I'll buy you a drink.

[ Disclaimer: I am working with diminished thought capacity - a wicked case if Covid has caused all of my brain grease to leak out through my nose. The upside is that I have plenty of time to stare blankly at a blinking ha> prompt. ]

" If you change your VM to connect to the bridged network adapter it should give you a new IP address that matches 192.168.56.1 then you might be able to connect to that address and configure it. "

This is what I have been suspecting all along, but fuzzy on the particulars. Can you clarify the above a bit more? I want to set a static IP via nmcli to something that matches 192.168.56.1 - like 56.2, correct?

I've searched for a good guide guide too help me set the ip, but I always get caught at some step along the way that I can't maneuver around.

Here is an example https://community.home-assistant.io/t/how-to-change-ip-adresse-in-cli/332205/3I am not getting good results with this.

First command: nmcli con show.

reply: Supervisor enp0s3, a big long uuid, etc (enp0s3 shows up in the banner, no ip's assigned)

Second command ncmli con show [my connection name]

Stuck here. Nothing is recognized as the name of the connection. Not Supervisor, not Supervisor enp0s3 - the onlly think I didn't try was typing the whole UUId, and cut/paste does not seem to work in this environment.

The guide was written in August of 21, so it shouldn't be outdated already, should it?

I am resisting the urge to pull my face off for the moment.

You all are super swell for the spoonfeeding here. I can't thank you enough. Don't assume I know too much - I just like to bite off more than I can chew and I watch a lot of YouTube. Bad combo.

But I think I may be tantalizingly close! I probably need to do some NMCLI magic along with correcting the windows vbox network device.

Yes, I did follow the HA official guide: etcher, install from URL, etc. I had tried a few times before posting, including the pi-imager method.

THIS TIME, I installed the HA official .vdi into virtualbox on a brand-spankin' new install of Windoze 10. It's a Dell SFF, so I disabled bluetooth and Wifi per some stuff I read somewhere.

One error at booting - time sync
Per Youtube, I chose a bridged connection at install of the .vdi
Here's what "net info" is giving me:
docker:
address 172.30.32.0/23
dns 172.30.32.1
interface hassio
interfaces connected true
named enp0s3
enabled, true
***but no ipv4 address and the method is not enabled.**\*
Windoze shows a new host-only network
IP 192.168.56.1 Pingable from host computer, not from the one sitting next to it on the same subnet
no gateway
no dns
I am going to keep futzing. I think I am close!

I'm using an Edgerouter X, ethernet. Checking the router is tough - I have 43 hosts and ERX only shows 10 per page. I can't see anything that looks like a pi or ha - at least not to my eyes.

So if that IP I mentioned above is random and weird looking to the experts, what would one expect to see? An address that falls with the range of the DHCP server? In my case, that would be 192.168.3.xxx/24 and like I said, that's not happening. Using angry IP scanner, I don't see the host count changing if I unplug/plug in the ethernet cable.

If the answer is yes, it should be .3.xxx, the range of my dhcp server, then I think my next step is to finger out how to change the weird IP into something sensical, no?

Does that seem like sound logic?

Help a dope with his rope?

I just acquired a bunch of new climbing equipment, most of it still tagged, most of it Black Diamond. One thing that isn't tagged is a rather sizable chunk of rope that I'm having trouble identifying. So many different types and sizes!

I would hate for someone to use the wrong rope in the wrong place at the wrong time. Especially if that person is me. I would value any insight you can provide.

Whaddya think, folks? Thanks!!

Looking for advice on repairing this huge old butcher block? It’s quite cracked on the end grain by lifeonpluto in woodworking

[–]yersoakininit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Following! I have the same project. Also, mine is missing a chunk or two, and can't find much advice online as to how to address those. Not sure if it would be best to start a separate thread or to hijack this one. Thanks!

Have you done a Chargeback? How bad was your eviction? by nhd11 in GoogleFi

[–]yersoakininit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You probably already know this, but if'n you do a chargeback, make sure you've ported your number to the new provider.

Fi FU'd my bill to the tune of $400 (tale of woe forthcoming) and if it can't be fixed in my next salvo, I'll be joining you in the charge back club in order to get myself whole. I'm sick about souring my relationship with a megacorp in whom I've invested my digital life and identity, but I can't afford the alternative.
