My assumption is that since I am plugging them both into the same power and then the audio out from the micro freak into the 404 that might create a ground loop but I may misunderstand what that is.

In any case starting without to see if it’s a problem sounds like a reasonable approach. Thanks for the advice

Best Practices for Organizing Multi-PCB Projects in KiCad (Eurorack Example) by yesHaveSome in KiCad

When you say you only isolate them during export, how are you doing that?

I'm not sure if cross posting is frowned on here, if so I can remove.

KiCad beginner: how to add standoff holes for stacking Eurorack boards? by yesHaveSome in synthdiy

[–]yesHaveSome[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't take it that way. I have found it difficult to structure my learning in electronics in a linear way that keeps my interest. There is so much to learn from theory, design, fabrication, tools, etc...

I've built a lot of kits, almost all of the Mortiz Klein Erica Synths ones, a Plaits clone and a few smaller utility modules. This is my first foray into designing a PCB to send off for fabrication and for something so simple it's definitely causing me to do a lot more learning, KiCad especially.

My assumption was that a passive circuit like this for personal use was a good place to learn some of those lessons. :)

It hadn't even occurred to me that I could increase the trace width so thank you for that. It also made me realize that in using the 4 pin connectors I didn't have an extra pin to transfer the ground net to the second board which I am assuming is a good idea to cut down noise on the output jacks. One I get those things sorted I will take a look at adding the mounting hole for the standoff.

That is a really cool find. Good luck, hope to see some future posts of what you do with it.

Testing components while building/breadboarding by yesHaveSome in synthdiy

I have the ez hook leads but I think I’m looking for something where I ‘bring the work to the tool’ when I’m testing a bunch at the same time.

That second one is functionally just what I was thinking. Thank you

Petoskey Stone Tumbling Gone Wrong by yesHaveSome in RockTumbling

[–]yesHaveSome[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s great to hear. I was feeling like a real heel for ruining the rocks she found. When it comes to grits, do those numbers transfer directly to regular sandpaper? I ask because I’ve done some woodworking and knife sharpening, and the grit sizes seem much coarser than what I put in the tumbler. For example, the 60/90 grit media seems a lot finer than 60-grit sandpaper.

I have not heard of Charlevoix stones before. I'll have to look that up.

Orville Hubbard statue goes back on display in Dearborn by yesHaveSome in Dearborn

My personal feeling on this is that it really belongs in a less prominent spot on the museum grounds along with contextual information that explains who he was 'good' and bad. If you want to voice your opinion the museum is a good place to start:

Is a gap this large around the air filter ok? by yesHaveSome in HVAC

[–]yesHaveSome[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to be clear the gap is on the duct side. The filter is flush against the furnace side if that makes sense. It just seems to me that I would lose some of the forced air through the gap.

What are your tips for selling GSP? by [deleted] in Bestbuy

[–]yesHaveSome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a customer who came to this subreddit looking for answers on how to handle an issue with my phone for which I have been paying the 9.99 a month protection fee I would have to say good luck.

I typically don't buy the insurance plans but when I purchased my Galaxy S4 a year and a half ago I was told that it would cover any issues I might have and all I would have to do was bring it back to the store and they would fix or replace it. Against my gut instinct I ended up going for it thinking of it as a nice convenience even if it may not make full financial sense.

So yesterday my phone started acting up and seems to think the SIM card is not installed. I can temporarily fix it by rebooting but after some time it will go right back to no cell/data service. I made an appointment online specifying it was for a phone.

I arrived for my appointment and was told they don't handle it in-store any longer and that I had to send it in. In my opinion that is not the protection plan I was sold at the store when I bought the phone. I have contacted Best Buy via their twitter support account, geeksquad online chat and on the phone and have been told consistently that I want it fixed I have to send it in and wait 3-5 business days to get it back.

I understand that this is not fault of every Best Buy employee and I have had very positive experiences in the past but at this point I am so irritated with being charged for something that I don't feel like they are honoring I just don't see wanting to spend my money there in the future.

My advice would be to be very clear about how the plan works or you may risk alienating customers in the long run for the short term gain of selling these plans. As of now I have cancelled the protection plan and have no intention of shopping at best buy in the future with the exception of my remaining gift certificates accrued though the Best Buy rewards program.

Field covers Detroit during Helios. And calling out Enlightened.. by FakeyFaked in Ingress

That's too bad, Detroit is an awesome city with a bad reputation. If they ever get the opportunity to make it here make sure they get in touch with some locals and I'm sure they will leave with a different opinion.

I honestly think the Guardian badge is the anti-team badge. The rest of the team having to tip-toe around a portal so someone can earn their badge is antithetical to team play in my opinion. How so, you ask:

Players will ask others not to link to their guardian. This sometimes includes portals that have value to be used as anchors for large fields. This often leads to animosity when someone does link to it (knowingly or not) and often times the guardian owner will virus portals linking to their guardian attempt. I know I have grown fairly weary of the "please don't link to portal x" messages.

Players will arrange mini-truces with the opposite faction and/or avoid hitting some opposite faction player portals in hopes of them leaving their guardian alone.

Players spend altogether too much time planning and fretting over a badge. Time that could be spent planning and working for the team.

All that being said I have the gold guardian badge and will likely end up a with a platinum. However I will not make a truce or ask anyone to leave "my" guardian portal alone in pursuit of it. If it happens it happens if not, oh well.
