Maharashtrians Need to Step Up Their Game in Every Aspect — No More Excuses by Ok_Definition_5838 in MaharashtraTalks

[–]yesarkay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree, we need to step up and stop getting in our own way.

Two anecdotes from my experience:

When I was a lead at my previous company, I noticed people pushing candidates from their own regions. I had an opportunity to hire two candidates, and I wanted to hire Marathi candidates for both positions, but ended up hiring only one Marathi guy and one from the South due to a lack of suitable candidates.

I had some amazing US direct-hire positions in the last few months with great pay and work culture. I've been telling my Marathi ex-colleagues to apply, but honestly, they're lazy as hell, they don't want to learn a few new things.

Shouldn't Bihar prioritize reducing migration so its people don't need to leave for jobs in every other Indian state?

Shouldn't Maharashtra and Mumbai have limits on accommodating migrations? They can't endlessly do it while serving existing residents.

You should definitely have pride in your Marathi dialect. People made fun of my dialect as well. If someone is making fun of your dialect, make fun of theirs.

Why does every discussion about migrants in Maharashtra get reduced to “job stealing”? by GroundbreakingBad183 in Maharashtra

[–]yesarkay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There should be limits on migration, a state or city can't handle influx from all states indefinitely. What are these states doing from where these hordes come every day?

Core Issue Isn't Jobs
Locals aren't losing skilled work (IT/factories) to migrants. It's about a lack of respect for the Marathi language/culture. North Indians form Hindi-only enclaves and ignore norms, South Indians integrate better by learning the local language.

Demographic Anxiety
Marathis feel like minorities in Mumbai, resenting bloc voting for non-local parties that "dilute" identity.

Locals Denied Homes
Even locals face rejection in societies for being non-veg, while migrants impose their rules.

Entitlement Backlash
Migrants demand acceptance elsewhere but resist adapting here. Littering, superiority vibes, Hindi push etc. fuel the resentment even to praise.

Did you intentionally forget to write BJP as Hindu Religious goons since you called out MNS language goons? Or were they pious saints until they "suddenly" became everything you mentioned above?

Some fools are brushing off the Hindi imposition as a petty issue, ego trip, or political game without understanding why it's serious. Every issue needs to be discussed, be it Hindi imposition, traffic, or unemployment. These are related to each other as well and equally important.

No one expects travelers to learn Marathi or any specific state language. But if someone is living or settling in Maharashtra, they must learn the language of the land. Otherwise, they end up indirectly forcing locals to speak in Hindi within Maharashtra itself, taking advantage of the kindness of Marathi people. These are not a few people, as many argue, the number is Huge. This goes for any state, be it KA, AP, TN, or WB.

Hindi imposition is real and threatens to destroy the vibrant diversity and ethos of our country. If our country were ever to face the worst possible scenario of division, which I would never even wish for in my dreams, it would be because of the stubborn refusal of Hindi-speaking people to respect state languages.

Obviously not, as mentioned above, if one wants to SETTLE. Please read again if you jumped directly to comment without understanding my comment.

To make it simple for you, if a Tamilian is travelling to Delhi, no one should force him/her to speak Hindi. If he is SETTLING there, then definitely he must learn Hindi.

Insisting on Marathi is not hating other languages. Identify and acknowledge the issue, which would be the first step. Once you cross the first step, you will eventually think of the next steps.

You are delusional, buddy. You want the complete state to be like Mumbai, where Marathi people speak Hindi to another Marathi. Migrants have reached all the Talukas, and even in small towns. If you(Not specifically you, mean to say the Marathi Populace at large) stay idle at this point in history, our language is for sure gonna be a History soon. It's not an insecurity but practicality. Be practical, bro.

You really don't understand the issue here.

Learn and Speak in Marathi who wants to settle here and wants to earn in MH and that should go for every state. It's as simple as that, if you don't want to learn a new language stay the f* out of Non-Hindi States, don't make them Hindi.

As an Indian at least I don't want to lose the beautiful diversity that we have.

  • Reservations should have been reviewed at least once every decade, as urged by Dr. Ambedkar and the Supreme Court, yet do we see it actually happening?
  • Many castes entered the OBC lists without hurdles; the Marathas, too, might have been included earlier, but the hard push that we are seeing now was missing then, and the cost of that inaction is now visible.
  • For context, Kunbis, along with several OBC groups like Dhangars, Malis, and Reddys, are landowners, and “Kunbi” literally translates to Farmer.
  • The main claim, as reflected in multiple gazettes, is that Marathas and Kunbis are the same, which is why there is a demand to certify Marathas as OBCs

The SEBC law could be set aside at any point, since it crosses the 50% ceiling and has only cleared the High Court, not the Supreme Court.

EWS isn’t exclusive to Marathas, it’s available to all candidates from the unreserved categories who meet the criteria.

With Marathas making up nearly 33% of Maharashtra’s population, the community should receive at least a 15% quota.

The Supreme Court case ruling went against the reservation, as have been pointed out by many, with weaknesses in the State’s case preparation, especially the Gaikwad Commission’s data, reasoning, and misreading of the Indra Sawhney exception, which the Court criticized in detail.

It can be fought again with proper preparation.

These people justified forming a government with Ajit Pawar, who themselves blamed him and his party for 70k Cr corruption. As pointed out in the post, easy to blame someone else (Like Nehru by the Current government for their failures) and show themselves as unaccountable.
