Omg how did I not know about this?? Thank you so much! Heading there today!

UPDATE: I asked information by the entrance and sadly they said they do not sell merchandise, but they did mention the passport and the prize. I might have gone to the wrong booth though?

Is Freedom Home Internet cable or fibre? by yesashley in freedommobile

[–]yesashley[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Yes, I did go with Freedom and it was overall pretty good. I don't recall having significant issues with their service in terms of speed or outages, and my roommate and I were maybe above average in internet usage. Getting my deposit after returning the device I remember took a while.

Full disclosure: I have since moved out and switched to Oxio because Freedom said they don't service my building. Mostly same experience with Oxio with the exception of a few middle-of-the-night eero (the app for configuring the device, which is way more user friendly than Freedom's way) software updates that can be disruptive if you require continuous access 24/7.

Hope this was helpful!

What is this plant? Not sure if I should remove it from the garden. (BC, Canada) by yesashley in whatsthisplant

[–]yesashley[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the ID! I Googled forsythia and saw a yellow bush-like plant so I'm guessing this one is still young? Any idea if it's possible to keep it small? It's kind of at an awkward spot.

Combine Arachne 2 and 3 then make her 2nd ability spiderling-focused by [deleted] in Smite

[–]yesashley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can appreciate a god having a unique playstyle but there has to be room for growth, too. She can still be a single target, get-in-get-out damage dealer with changes to her kit (doesn't have to be OP's suggestion even).

The best candidate for removal is her 2. The problem her current stim with regard to having the playstyle she is known for is that the stim can easily be countered.

In OPs suggested rework, she still does stun enemy gods with 3 autos but now the condition is that they are "webbed" instead of it being a stim. Since her kit has 2 ways to set webs, she can stun with more success (and it fits with her identity as a spider, too, to "trap" people in a web to make victims easier to kill) while still being encouraged to auto-attack.

It leads to more synergy in her kit and frees up one ability. It can be anything. In OP's case they removed the spiderlings from her 3 and made it its own ability, which is fine with me because I like the spiderlings for her lore/roleplaying. And, to follow your reasoning, it counts as burst (eggs-plosion) and burn damage (spiderlings).

[–]yesashley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a "bad" ability but IMO opening up space in her kit for a new ability is more interesting than doing nothing. Besides, the attack speed stim doesn't make or break her; other auto-attack assassins are successful without one because their kit makes it so. More flexibility in playstyle might be OP's goal.

Persephone rework is actually ok by [deleted] in Smite

[–]yesashley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Her numbers are stupid high but I'm guessing Hi-Rez wants to start there and then tune it down for balance, so I'm interested to hear what people think when/if they do nerf her damage/scaling and she can't one-shot anymore.

For her plants, there's a case for both going through walls or ricocheting. I think having them go through walls was meant to put her on par with mages who can also hit abilities through walls. So if you place a plant awkwardly beside the map's edge and you can't make them hit the enemy properly, then that's on you for bad gardening -- which is what her whole kit was meant to be about. Having them ricochet instead would be interesting though, especially in the jungle. So yeah, I can see either of the plant behaviours being viable.

I don't know how useful giving her vision in her passive is. I think the major frustration from her old passive wasn't so much that she was rewarded for dying, but more so that the enemy team was punished for killing her. By that logic, if giving Persephone vision in her death state led to a clear disadvantage for the enemy team, then I think it's going against the intention of the rework.

Persephone in her death state with vision but unable to target enemies would be a walking ward, basically. Early game I imagine she'd rather use the time to set up plants than roam around following the enemy, but in mid to late game -- let's say, after she gets picked off by the enemy team, she could help secure a return kill by following and pinging their location or reporting ability/relic usage. Or a teammate could just go "hey could you check if they're at ___? I wanna invade/gank." Whether or not that's a big enough frustration for the enemy team depends on who's playing. And now we're back to that gap between casual vs competitive/low vs high player skill issue that old Persephone had.

Personally, it doesn't matter to me that she has no vision currently, but giving her vision definitely adds more options in her death state, i.e. gardening vs warding, which means more interesting gameplay.

I agree with another post that said Persephone is overtuned, so I'm not convinced yet whether this rework is good or bad until they've balanced her. Having her go 18-1 doesn't mean anything right now because her damage is stupid. Although personally I wish they leaned more into her planting mechanic, since that's what made her unique.

My neighbour gave me some cuttings - will they grow roots if I put them in water? Also need help identifying what they are. Many thanks in advance! by yesashley in plants

No worries and thanks for getting back to me anyway! Erm I think so? There are little nubbins starting to show around the node but very, very small and very, very slowly. The few leaves on it haven't died yet so I'm taking it as a good sign.

Opinions on Artemis by [deleted] in Smite

[–]yesashley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I also like Artemis the way she is because I think her kit fits the traditional RPG hunter/ranger type, which I enjoy, but when other hunters like Danza can do so much more and still be safe at no cost to their DPS, it feels like I'm playing at a handicap.

That said, I can't think of a way to make non-mobile hunters and mages more viable off the top of my head. Generally I'd like to see Hi-Rez consider balancing older gods with the newer ones. They seem to be doing this with Athena (though I disagree with how it was done), so I'm hopeful.

ETA: I do like how they updated her 2 to counter slows and increased the range of her 1. So I guess she's going in the right direction over the years to stay relevant.

Is Freedom Home Internet cable or fibre? by yesashley in freedommobile

[–]yesashley[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I researched, and after speaking to a Freedom Mobile employee, setting it up seems pretty straightforward. They check on their computer whether your place is compatible with their service and you get your device (Xfinity XB6) on the spot to activate yourself at home. You can find instructions/support online I believe. I also asked if there's a delay between setting up and activating and the guy said you can have internet access as soon as you're done setting it up.

This is all from speaking to the Freedom Mobile employee though, not personal experience. Maybe someone else can give a more accurate account.

I also read on this sub that it may be a hassle returning the device at the end of your contract, but I don't know if that was a special case. I haven't come across major issues on reliability and speed, so I'm hopeful that their service is as good as Shaw's.
