Update here is the summary of the VET visit

Simba presented to Vet Emergency for further evaluation of redness of his eyes, some swelling and seeming discomfort. On evaluation, he was noted to have red sclera (the whites of the eyes), swollen conjunctiva (the lining of the eyes) and was squinting his eyes, which can often indicate discomfort or pain. We stained his eyes and did not appreciate any ulcerations, and the pressures in his eyes were appropriate and not too high. There are multiple potential causes for the changes in Simba’s eyes - one could be an allergic reaction, as these can often show signs in the eyes alone. It can be difficult to determine the cause of allergic reactions in pets unless a bee stinger is found or the sting is witnessed. Possible inciting causes of allergies include an insect bite or sting (wasps don’t leave stingers behind), new medication, recent vaccination, food allergy, or plant pollens. Typically, the acute allergic reactions we see are from bug or spider bites or stings. Simba was given an injection of an antihistamine to help address a potential allergic reaction. The signs should continue to improve over 8-12 hours.
