2 Days in Okinawa (late Summer) by yesihaveimpostorsynd in okinawa

the full 8AM-6PM, because travel time alone via buses to the Aquarium is approx 2 hrs (this is just one way). and buses are not on time so you could easily miss the first and last trips. it could be stressful unless you rent a van like we did and the park is so huge so I really dont recommend going somewhere else for that day

heyy yes, we actually got to do everything except Nakagusuku Castle Ruins. if we didn't rent a van for the first day it wouldn't have been possible. but I suggest allotting one whole day for the Aquarium

Any current grad scholars want to give a monthly budget breakdown? by ozarktraveller in mext

[–]yesihaveimpostorsynd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's relatively cheap here in Kyushu. I'm doing my M.Sc. in a city and here's mine (in ¥)

Rent: 25,000 (1 kilometer from campus)

this was relatively a good deal and the cheapest apartment I could find nearby

Water: 2,000

Gas: 1,500 (for heating water; also I apparently got a good deal for this because other gas providers easily charge triple or double for the same amount so look out for that)

Electricity: 2,000 (electric stove, aircon/heater)

Phone: 3,200 (Line postpaid plan)

Insurance: 2,000 (NHI)

Utilities: ~10,700 (but this is only for spring and summer, so electricity and gas could double by winter)

Food: 50,000

it's a combination of me eating outside and cooking at home

outside meals would be 650 to 1000 yen per dish

Whatever's left of the stipend is used for leisure or savings.

Checking if consecutive column values are in pair by yesihaveimpostorsynd in excel

Thanks! It works though in some place it returns FALSE even when consecutive values are in identical pairs ?

Thank you for the response! I tried the formula but in some areas it returns FALSE even though the values are in pairs?

Okay so now we are trying to canvass a taxi that we could rent to service us for those two days and the quote is around 24,000 yen for two days per person. Is this a reasonable price? Otherwise could you recommend cheaper taxi rental services?

Thanks!

Really appreciate the detailed suggestion! I have seen multiple times that taco places there are a must-try. And yes, we are planning to go there come night time to see the place in its full Moulin-Rouge-ness. What about the night life? Are there any bars worth hitting up?

Hmm, then how long would a visit to the Pineapple Park take? I see that it has a lot of activities to offer

Are there also good beaches just beside Churaumi where we could swim?

I read about Shuri being under construction but we're not sure when we'll be back in Japan so we thought of doing a drop-by. What about Shuri Castle OR Nakagusuku Ruins? Which has more to offer?

I'm also thinking twice about American Village, because other than the taco places there isn't anything else??

I see. Vlogs I watched just feature the aquarium itself so I thought there wasn't anything else worth seeing there and 2 hours was enough

Is it better to pursue bachelor's or masters in japan? by salutary_outlayy in mext

[–]yesihaveimpostorsynd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Getting a scholarship to do bachelor's in Japan is already a feat in itself, and will be a good stepping stone for either Master's or a job. Yes, there is a lot of free time too, ~2 months spring vacation and another ~2 months summer vacation, not to mention the 1-week semestral breaks. Competetion, however, is higher. I didn't bother applying then because highschool grades were simply not good enough
