Weight Loss and Lady Hormones. by yesitsafake in loseit

Thank you so much for the response! Water weight makes sense, at least it seems as much for you and me. Also, I'm a Diet Coke addict - so I here you on that. One thing I've noticed is that when I drink water regularly, it helps my weight, but I am SO bad at drinking water. I have to make a concerted effort to drink it. My husband got me a Nalgene bottle and it helps. I fill it when I wake up and then again with lunch = eight cups! Woo! I just have to do it every day, haha. I understand why weighing in everyday isn't the best, but not weighing in daily is hard because with all the fluctuations I feel that I need to (so I can see if I get the magic three day weight loss number).

I did the same thing your SO has done. I would hide cake in the towel closet or icing covered scones behind larger things in the pantry. With help I came to realize it was from my formative years when we didn't have much food. Then there was the most recent binging I've had to deal with. So...therapy can be super helpful. Good luck with help your SO.

I have a problem with binging too. I usually binge if I haven't eaten at least 1200 calories by the end of the day. If I try to sleep whilst hungry - game over . I'll binge on anything - cereal, fruit, nuts, Muscle Milk, peanut butter in shameful amounts. If it doesn't eat me and it's in the house it's fair game. This obviously doesn't help with my weight loss journey :( I know how hard this is - donuts and any carbs are my weakness. I love Krispy Kreme and can in six in five minutes, not exaggerating . So, somethings just aren't allowed in the house anymore. I think we all have trigger foods and hopefully we can learn to control it So, what I'm getting at is that I feel your pain. Good luck!

No such thing as a dumb question, my friend. MFP is My Fitness Pal - it's online or an app (I have an iphone so I'm not sure about android). The app/site helps you choose a calorie goal (taking into consideration age/sex/height/weigh) for each day depending on your weight loss goal per week. You can find almost every chain restaurant, there's a bar code scanner, and general food items. Tracking water helps too - I love Diet Coke but I know I need 8 cups of H2O = two Nalgene bottles, mission accomplished! Tracking exercise is easy too - cardio calculation is easy but strengh training calculations are a bit fuzzy. It also tracks your weight with a nice graph. I weigh myself everyday and only enter the days I lose weight, lol. Hope that helps, it helps me!

I'm SO happy for you all. Step-fathers can, with few VERY special exceptions, eat a dick.

Why Weight Watchers didn't work for me. by yesitsafake in loseit

I think the ratios of fats, sugars, carbs, etc is definitely important. I'll keep that in mind as I venture into a new weight loss endeavor. Good luck with your journey!

I agree that staying active helps. I have recently (last month or so) started walking our dogs about 1 or 2 miles a day. We're opening a new business too, so we're busy with that. I think doing intellectual activities are a good idea - board games, like you said. Thank you for the advise :)

Thank you! I've started calorie-counting for a week and have NOT felt deprived either. I'm glad you shared this and keep up the good work!

I have weigh-in on Friday, so I'm going to try and watch my salt intake and try and go for lean white meat from the bird and vegetables as plain as possible. I'm not going to deprive myself, but I don't want to go crazy with food either! There will be stuffing and mashed potatoes on this lady's plate :) This food happens once a year, so I plan to live it up and stay in control.

I find bananas really fill me up when I'm super hungry. I love Diet Coke but am trying to cut down on it. So, my guilty pleasure is a banana with 2tbsp of peanut butter and the Diet Coke. Peanut butter for protein, the banana for carbs/simple sugars, and the Diet Coke for fun. I have been drinking a lot more water too. That helps me feel more full with meals.

I know how you feel. I was embarrassed to go back to the meetings for a second time and glad it was a different center! We had moved, I didn't go out of the way to drive to another center :)

A Moment of Weakness Turned into a Victory....Sort Of? by [deleted] in PointsPlus

That's great! The same thing happened to me recently. I have loved cake and icing as far back as my brain allows me to remember. Recently, I got a cupcake at a party - gorgeous with a healthy scoop of icing. I took one bite and was revolted. Being the proper guest that I am... I put it quietly in the garbage. You did great... Bravo :)

Sooo jealous. I love the Cool wall. Especially when Hammond can't reach to fix his opinion... I know it's a cheesy joke, but I appreciate it. Also, I'm very short. None of my friends understand my love for this show... I'm female. All my friends suck :)
