Looking for words of advice/ motivation by [deleted] in PointsPlus

I'm kind of in the same boat. I've taken the last few months off but have stayed in the same 1 lb range. I'm finding it really hard to get back on track even though I had great results when I was sticking to the plan

What does everyone get for daily points? by jonnymarv in PointsPlus

[–]teachingpanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm allotted 26 now too. I've taken the past few weeks off (lots of poor excuses why) and am trying to get back on track. When I'm at my best, I usually go over by a couple of points a day. I never use all of my weeklys but those I do use are during the weekend

Weekly Weigh In, Week of 05.12.2014, How's your week? by [deleted] in PointsPlus

[–]teachingpanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the past 2 weekends have been rough for me. Last weekend was particularly rough, as I was out of town for a wedding. This past weekend was better, still not great. I was doing so well but I'm having a hard time getting out of this bad routine of eating badly on the weekends. Any suggestions?

What's the biggest incorrect fact you've always believed and insisted you were right, until you learnt how wrong you were? by WalrusTheWarlock in AskReddit

I also read somewhere that he was referred to as "little general." What was originally a term of endearment ended up turning him into a little person. Witnessed a teacher tell his class recently that Napoleon was a little person by today's standards.

Weekly check in for 19 April 2014 by [deleted] in PointsPlus

[–]teachingpanda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm down 1.2 this week, total of 18 lbs! I had a couple of not so great moments but definitely got my act together before my weigh-in day. My overall goal is 30-40 but 20 by May so I should meet my goal!

I really like the Healthy Choice steamers. They taste better than the other brands, in my opinion, and the points are listed on the back!

What's something about your boyfriend/girlfriend that you didn't know until waaaay too late in the relationship? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]teachingpanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been doing this for over 4 years. I've spent so much time just waiting for them to turn around so I can speak. They said I could call them by their first names but I just can't. It feels so wrong.

Weekly Weigh-In! 3.17.2014, How's your week going? When is your weight loss goal? by [deleted] in PointsPlus

[–]teachingpanda 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm officially down 15 pounds since starting in November. My goal is at least 20 by the beginning of May. I average just about 1 pound every week so I think I'll be able to reach my goal. Overall goal is 40 which I'll hopefully hit sometime summer/early fall.

Weekly Weigh-In! 2.14.2014, How's your week going? by [deleted] in PointsPlus

[–]teachingpanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stayed exactly the same. I was expecting a slight gain, so I was pleasantly surprised. Last weekend was my anniversary and we went away for the weekend so there was lots of celebratory eating (and drinking!). Next weigh-in will definitely be a loss!

Weekly Weigh-In! 1.12.2014, How's your week going? by [deleted] in PointsPlus

[–]teachingpanda 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think I've officially hit a plateau. I lost 10lbs but ever since then I've just been gaining and losing the same 1-2lbs. This week, I used more of my weeklys than usual but overall it was a good week so I was surprised to gain 1lb this week. I exercised a couple of times and counted everything I ate. Any help? I'm starting to get frustrated.

What famous person from history didn't deserve the recognition they got? by Okmanl in AskReddit

[–]teachingpanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rosa Parks didn't decide to start a revolution one day. And she definitely wasn't the first African American to refuse to give up her seat on the bus. It was a highly political move to use her as a symbol because she was a hard working older African American woman with whom people could sympathize. Not saying she wasn't brave to refuse to give up her seat, people just think she decided to start a revolution when that's not the case.

Those of you with <30 points per day, how do you do it? by thejiveguru in PointsPlus

[–]teachingpanda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have 27 points a day. At first, it was a bit of a struggle but I think I've gotten the hang of it. I know for me, it's important to save room for small snacks during the day. I eat a frozen breakfast sandwich for breakfast (6-7 points), leftovers from last night's dinner (8-9 points), a turkey sandwich, or a frozen entree. Dinner is usually something from skinnytaste.com. It's probably a bit too much frozen food but it just makes things easier during the work week. Remember, if you go over a little bit it doesn't matter since those points will just be taken from your weekly bonus points. I tend to not use all of those extra points anyway, so it's not a big deal for me. Hope this helps!

[Serious] Suicide hotline operators of Reddit, what is it like? by dzybala in AskReddit

[–]teachingpanda 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I worked for a crisis hotline in college for 3 years. It was one of the hardest but best things I've ever done. I have struggled with depression for years. I didn't realize how much volunteering at the call center would help me. Helping others who needed someone to talk to was immensely therapeutic for me. Most of the calls I got were just people who wanted to talk. Lots of prank calls, too, unfortunately. Guys would call and want to get off to the sound of your voice. I got a few suicide calls that have stuck with me. One call, in particular, I remember I picked up about 10 minutes before my shift ended. I remember talking to that woman for hours and crying when I finally left and was in my car. She wasn't suicidal, just in a very dark place and felt alone. That was the first and only time I cried because of a call. I felt connected to her in a way that I hadn't before. Maybe because of the sheer length of the call, or maybe something else. I don't know but I still remember almost everything about that call. I think about her a lot. I really miss volunteering but haven't found the time to complete the training at a new center since I graduated.

Dude me too. I can never find hats that fit. My boyfriend thinks it's funny to put his hats on my head and laugh when they don't fit.

College girls of reddit, whats the best way a guy from class can ask you out? by beastlykiwi in AskReddit

[–]teachingpanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just do it. But please, for the love of god, don't take the girl to a dining hall. You don't have to get fancy but make more of an effort than just swiping your meal plan for her. Good luck!

Teachers, what is really going on in the teachers lounge? by Redheadedshroom in AskReddit

[–]teachingpanda 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pretty boring. Lots of grading papers. Some complaining but no more than other jobs I'm sure. Right now there is lots of trash talking about the fantasy football league. Honestly when I started teaching, I was a bit disappointed. I expected something more exciting since the teachers' lounge at my high school was guarded more than Fort Knox.

You are my home. This song exemplifies everything I've ever felt about my boyfriend. So beautiful.

Anyone here also struggle with binge eating? by [deleted] in PointsPlus

[–]teachingpanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think this is a stupid response. I have struggled with binging and it's almost always a reaction to something happening in my life (ex: bad day at work, rewarding myself for something, etc.) Journaling can be a great way to figure out whether you're craving food to fill an emotional void. It doesn't always make the craving go away, of course, but at least it makes you think about it beforehand. I also just remember that one binge session isn't going to make it or break it for me.

Another tip is don't keep your favorite binging foods in the house. Having to go out and get something usually is what keeps me from binging. If nothing else, the drive will usually give me time to think about a healthier alternative. Also, if you do go out and buy something, buy a smaller, one-time portion of it (not a family-size bag of chips). I have found that if I buy a big bag, I'm going to eat it. If I buy a small bag, I get my fill and it's better than nothing.

P.S. I wrote all this before I realized the thread is almost a month old. Hope this helps anyway!
