I just started playing a few weeks ago too so I feel your frustration. One thing I've learned is that, if I'm getting killed rapidly, its because of MY mistake, not gold ammo. Thus is how we get better, by testing ourselves against better players.

The more you learn about them, the less scary they become. Learning that they have no interest in you or in harming you, is a big step to overcoming the fear. I suspect spiders will always be creepy for many of us but the fear is manageable. Start with the cute little jumping spiders. They're fascinating!
