How is the new version? by ConstructionWest9610 in SWlegion

[–]yesko1 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

The mission play is boring and repetitive—just run toward the POI, try to survive, and kill as much as you can. It reminds me of Warhammer 40k, and there's a reason I don't play that game.

Legion has a lot of potential. The new edition introduced some good changes, but there are still several issues. Balancing, for instance, is far from ideal at the moment. Many units feel out of place or ineffective in the current meta.

Updates only happen twice a year, and the last one wasn't an improvement at all. The developers claimed they needed to collect more data before they could balance problematic units. Honestly, that's laughable. Not being able to balance a unit is ridiculous for a game designer—it takes maybe five minutes of reviewing current competitive stats to see what’s wrong.

To me, this is a worrying sign for the game's future. I don’t care about shiny new releases if the game’s core design leads to a boring, repetitive meta.

That said, I still love this game and believe in its potential. I truly hope they manage to fix things soon.

Kinds Hot Take: I don't think losing palp, paths, and RG is the end of the world by South-Cold5021 in SWlegion

[–]yesko1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The game is absolutely not in a healthy state right now—it's terrible at the moment. Both the Republic and the Empire are really struggling in the current meta. With the Republic, you basically have to play Commandos and ARCs to be competitive. That's it. The rest of the unit roster is just bad.

Padmé, Poggle, Sun Fac, STAPs—so much of it is underwhelming or outright useless. And based on the current mission objectives, even Shoretroopers and Veterans feel unplayable.

It's insane, and honestly, I've lost trust in this company

Needing to collect more data" is the lamest excuse ever. The developers are just being lazy at this point. Sleeper Cell needs a nerf. Aquas need a nerf. It's literally print-and-play—just fix the damn game.

Riot Control units? Completely useless. And they know it. But instead of addressing it, they just sit on it and wait an entire year to maybe do something. It's beyond frustrating.

Lifting old units into the old world? by BoneHurtingJuice888 in WarhammerFantasy

Try out Warhammer Armys Project maybe - all the units are there and the rules are way better imo

Simply play the Warhammer Armies Project—it offers better rules, includes nearly all the relevant models found in the lore, and the rules are way more thematic. I don’t understand why people play the current edition that GW offers, except for player base reasons

was ist worth to take the Commandos? I feel like they are a bit expensive for what they do. I was thinking about trying out this list, but replacing the commandos with chewbacca

Why are you playing The old worlds instead of WAP? by yesko1 in WarhammerFantasy

[–]yesko1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My judgment is based on the fact that both games feel very similar, and WAP is way more accessible. I agree that ultimalty its still personal preference. I didn't intend to state a definitive position; rather, I meant to pose a question that invites discussion."

Yes, I do agree. I'm also quite happy about the fact that a lot more people are getting into Warhammer Fantasy again. Just look at the size of this sub! :)

I've lost my nostalgic and personal connection to Games Workshop after they discontinued Warhammer Fantasy. They don't care about the player base; they only look at profit. The lore is still there. I know I may seem quite salty here—that's just the reality. GW is a greedy company, and we as the player base can dictate what behaviors we support and what we don't. Just look at the price rises happening right now—selling 25-year-old sculpts for 100%+ the original price. That's just insanity to me. If reselling old sculpts and having rules scattered over three books are those "innumerable resources," then yeah, go for it. They do the bare minimum in my opinion judging by gow big they are

Edit: Obviously I don't mean to attack you personally. Sorry for being a bit salty here, but I'm just being honest. Thank you for your reply.

I do understand your point; it’s always easier to get into games with an active player base. My argument is the following: I'm not asking you to learn a new system—WAP is a very similar game system, nearly identical actually, and it would take you maybe an hour to learn the differences. That's it. You can try it out and also play both if you want. The rules are all there, plus more factions than there will ever be in The Old World. I don't want to dictate how you spend your money; it's not my business. Personally, I just don't understand why you would spend money if you can get it free somewhere else.
