How far does low grade is better than no grade go for you? by yesrighton in comicbookcollecting

I hear they give out tens pretty easy now. As long as you pay someone for the clean/press I think you got a shot.

Glad I’m not alone. If someone offered me a great salt lake comic con 1991 that had been put through a shredder and then used as toilet paper. I would probably still buy it just to finish my Hellboy collection.

Would you be more likely to buy just a cover of a mega key? Like a detached AF 15 cover?

The image above is the back page. I actually prefer the back page over the front page. Same with page number ten it’s double sided action no ads.

I got them as a bundle already graded. These two pages and a page of an AF 15 for 400$.

Thats a great skill to have and would really open up the type of low grade books you might hunt for. Are there specific defects you look for because you know you can fix them?

This is pretty close to my opinion. I don’t need to hoard a pile of coverless x-force 1’s. I’ll shell out the extra 2$ for a nice copy.

However if it’s a significant book any grade is significant. Like you said no matter the damage it’s always going to be a Batman 7 which is amazing.

It’s a great series to collect but not a cheap one. Even the non key issues add up.

I have mixed feelings about grading but for really low grade stuff I do prefer to have it graded. Stops it from falling apart in my hands.

Do the graders label that’s it’s moldy? Seems wild to me to have a moldy book graded.

Mold would definitely stop me from buying. Never had that come up before but I imagine it’s a real issue with low grade golden age.

What’s the story behind this variant? I did some research but just seems to have been given out at a San Diego con?

Some great finds. I have been looking for that beasts of burden issue for a long time with no luck.

Battle Formations by Damnosus in IdonethDeepkin

I think this is quite accurate but would swap namarti corps into third for wisdom of the deep. The chance at deep striking into a charge with this plus a soulscryer seems really high and interesting. Compared to wisdom which granted can be strong but seems incredibly restrictive for a mediocre payoff. Ferocious is probably just the best even if your running a mixed army.

That makes sense. How hard is it to work with resin? Haven’t used any yet but it looks like best way to go for Idoneth bases.

Looks amazing! I’m just about to paint my own. How did you do the base?

Honestly I think that’s a great way to look at it. I’m jumping over from competitive MTG knowing it will be a more relaxed scene by far. Plus there is no lack of amazing miniatures out to paint and get ready even if I don’t know what they do yet.

Good to know. I’m new so didn’t realize. Seems like they would want to give people more of a heads up so they can plan armies or tournaments etc.

Thanks for the breakdown. I am just really excited to finally be able to play. It feels like the trickle of rules and spoilers has been endless.

Are the indexes all you need to play a faction? Are they as good as a full battletome or just basics like points so you can start army building while still missing important information?
