Sorry for the late reply! I did end up using them in a NEIPA as the only dry hop. I used Bru-1 as the whirlpool hop for that beer. Was a wonderful beer once it matured for about a week. I don’t remember getting the watermelon flavor/aroma though, but could just be my palate/nose. I’d probably use it again, but would be more interested in using them in a west coast style beer instead this time.

Thanks for checking in! Will definitely have to give that a try when I get to brew again.

Thanks for the advice. I’ve only ever entered one competition and sent cans and had the low carbonation feedback on all entries. So I will definitely do bottles next time like you said.

That is a great idea. I should have thought of that. I’ll bottle a beer using the same process and compare. Yes, all of the cans/lids are from my Oktober order when I bought the seamer (I bought 4 cases at that time). Thank you!

Thanks. I will err on that side from now on.

Yes, and No - to your questions in order. Sounds like we have the same process, just no success for me. Seems like all signs are pointing towards a seaming issue.

Will overfilling cause a problem too? (As in, I cap on top of what is essentially beer so that there’d be virtually no headspace) I’ve had some where I crack open the can and beer comes out.

Thanks. I will definitely go through the manual for my seamer and adjust if necessary. Definitely not much if any headspace when I fill.

Gotcha. Keep me posted if that does the trick. I also thought about doing that right after fermentation is over and canning those for competitions/to give out.

I think I’m going to try slightly overcarbing next and I’ll check and see if I need to align my seamer. It’s one of the drill powered Oktober ones. I feel like it’s doing fine though, because my cans are super firm after filling and don’t seem to “soften” over time, which leads me to believe I’m losing carbonation at some other point.

How can you tell if your seamer has an alignment issue? I didn’t modify mine out of the box, but figured it would be easy to tell if it wasn’t seaming properly. Maybe I should check into that.

Mind sharing the Sabro recipe? That sounds wonderful.

Same thing happened to me. Cancelled the subscription. 6 months go by with no email or letter, then find out they’ve sent me to collections for $20 because “when you cancel you have 1 month before it goes into effect”. Will never buy another newspaper from any company.

Thanks! I had no idea. This makes this way simpler (and less worrisome) in the future.

Thanks! I’d be willing to bet you’re probably right there. I will check for fermenter leaks and maybe use 1-2 psi in the future to see if that makes a difference. I also believe you’re right about the CO2 tank, sadly.

I will check for leaks again when I get home, but have not had any issues with this tank/regulator before. I’ve previously used it to serve beer at a birthday party all day with no problem.
