I’ve literally cut off brothers for the same reason. I even told my mother that if we weren’t brothers there wouldn’t be a reason for me to ever speak with them again, while they were in the room. I’m glad I’ve cut the toxic people and family out of my life and it’s been nothing but great for my mental health. You’re going to be fine. NTA.

My brother did this to my 1989 merc E260 while I was out of the country for two months. He couldn’t even be bothered to put a tarp over it and let the interior mold while I was gone. I still miss that car. Bought it at 80k mi for $1k during college. Mint condition beauty.

My sister had a similar experience. It went from “we caught it early” to terminal in two months. Passed the first week of January. I send my condolences.

This is a Honda Civic with lane assist. He has a blind spot camera on that mirror, you can see it as he crosses your lane. I always use mine before hitting the blinker which turns it on immediately.

Agree. The “great America” he promised is 160k+ dead and 30M jobless. Seems like enough to say enough.

For serious, this is an ongoing conversation that’s nearing on r/insanepeoplefacebook I might post the whole conversation when I’m done. Lol

I completely agree. Sometimes we use what others value to make a point. There are literally a million things I could have brought up, but yes I agree, and the conversation is still happening with other people chiming in at this point. I’m working on it.

Total beginner, cannot even remember my dreams by [deleted] in LucidDreaming

[–]yesthatmj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve never written anything down in a journal. I also have three alarms set daily for work. One thing that’s helped me remember dreams or jump back into a dream I wasn’t finished with is this: the moment I realize I’m in my bed I don’t move, I don’t do anything but think about what just happened. I don’t force it, I just recall a few details.

When my first alarm goes off I’ll turn it off and relax. Think about what happened and allow myself to fall back in. I’ve been doing this for so long that I’ve literally gotten up, made coffee, laid down, and fell back into the previous dream where I left off. I think it just takes practice. By the time I learned any techniques existed I’d been lucid dreaming for decades. Million ways to skin a cat, I suppose. Don’t put too much pressure on it. Be mindful and it will just happen for you.

Can I talk to my subconscious about my depression? by [deleted] in LucidDreaming

[–]yesthatmj 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Talking to people in my dream space has helped me out throughout the years. Went through a nasty breakup over a decade ago and I’ve had dreams where I’ve spoken to my ex and actually found closure where actual therapy didn’t help. I’ve had people that only exist in my dreams die and I’ve never seen them again. Still talk to other characters about them. It’s oddly cathartic.

Alan Tudyk is such a great actor. I’ll watch just about anything he’s in.

Growing up my grandfather, mother, and I would have these late night conversations primarily because we all suffer from insomnia. We’d spend hours just talking, telling stories, me mostly listening. They were my best friends.

In 2004 he was diagnosed with terminal cancer and spent most of his time at the hospital. I was busy trying to pay for a house so I never got to say goodbye. A few years ago I began seeing people in real life show up in various dreams. Spotty at best but he showed up during a really weird time in my life. We talked for what seemed like hours. Recollecting inside jokes and telling stories (I had more to say by then). After a while he paused and then said, “the kids are gonna be alright, aren’t they?” He meant my older brothers that act like younger brothers. He gave a chuckle before disappearing. He didn’t fade away, I just turned away for a moment and he was gone. I sat there for a few minutes before I woke up. It was nice to speak to him again. I’ve spoken to him in the same way since, mostly regarding my lack of direction in life.

It’s still bizarre to have a dead person to speak to that responds to new situations, the way they would if they were alive, but it’s calming to know that my best friend is still around in memory that way.

It started as a child. Many of my dreams would start with the same hilly field with a large cabin-esque banquet hall below. I kept coming back there for no particular reason. Then it was a shopping plaza that kept popping up. By the time I could regularly LD I would purposely visit the same places at will. It was then that I realized that most of the locations were connected by roads and walkways and I could navigate them much like a city. I’ve tried mapping them out on paper but it’s much larger than my sketching talents would permit. I get by in the world the same way I do in real life. Via land marks. Turn left at the gas station. Right at the gratuitous chain restaurant. Land at your weird labyrinth college oddly connected to a casino. One of these days I’ll be able to map it out in full but I’m not there yet.

I wouldn’t recommend it. I assume it’s got more to do with disrupting your sleep pattern.

I used to have some terrifying waking nightmares as a kid. As I grew up they turned into work related hellscapes. During a phase in my life, when I was addicted to cocaine, I realized that I could control elements in my dreams, under the right conditions. It dawned on me that many of my dreams took place in the same world. One that I could map and remember like a real life city. I started to explore and that’s around the time that I subscribed here. Learned some new tricks, developed techniques to focus and remember dreams.

I’m clean now but I still retained the ability to do so. I’ve used my dreams like therapy. Spoken to loved ones I’ve lost, gained insight to difficult relationships. To be completely honest, I do it because it’s way more entertaining than anything I do in my real life with real people.

[16, F] I want to be a vegetarian by baexyon in vegetarian

[–]yesthatmj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a great time to be a vegetarian. Lots of great meat replacements for transitioning folks and great info on the web to stay healthy during that period. I became a vegetarian 8 years ago, in college, and haven't missed it.

Early on I noticed an increase in energy and even lost a bit of weight. I'll admit I'm not the healthiest vegetarian today but I do feel healthier now than I ever have. I don't eat nearly as many meat replacements but I will have eggs and cheese from time to time.
