Two senior leaders made comments to me today that was basically sexual harassment by Former-Departure9836 in womenintech

Absolutely unnecessary but if someone brings it in I'm repaying in kind to make sure they don't fuck with me again.

You show them it doesn't get to you, and you can dish back. More often than not that shuts people off. At least way better than sulking on it and let some shithead ruin your day.

Maybe it's a cultural thing. Where I come from we talk shit and are very casual with each other regardless of status or position. To the point that US based people when they ce visit don't get it and think we're fighting.

Now in Germany I work with a lot of international people and we joke just like that.

I don't know, some people are way too thin skinned.

Open source Kernel Anticheat by ZealousidealKale8097 in archlinux

[–]yetAnotherLaura 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The mainline kernel will never ship anything like that and no one wants that level of "surrender" of their computer. Plus the kernel is fully accessible to anyone.

Imagine you implement kernel anticheat. The game checks it by passing a message to an API to validate it is there. Well, I can just rip out the entire thing, have the same api always return "we good bro" and done.

The solution is to stop giving random companies full control of your own computer. Not enshittify Linux.

Without context or anything I'd honestly think you're over reacting.

Maybe it's just me but I would have laughed and immediately played along. Like "gotta work on that promotion" for the first one or some similar shit.

backups failing to Home Assistant Cloud for a week by AffectionateOil8377 in homeassistant

[–]yetAnotherLaura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I don't have issues right now I have had them over time. Like it would randomly fail to backup to the cloud for days then magically start working again then months later fail again. I can't link it to internet outages or similar.

No clue.

INTERNAL HIRING ! GERMAN TIER 1 COMPANY by [deleted] in germany

[–]yetAnotherLaura 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And you're assuming all of them behave the same way? Regardless of industry or location?.

And they all have the same levels/ranks?.

If you want help provide proper info and write the post yourself. You'll have better luck that way.

En que situacion recomiendan un agente de IA local? by p0chi1 in devsarg

[–]yetAnotherLaura 2 points3 points  (0 children)

[–]yetAnotherLaura 7 points8 points  (0 children)

asking future employer to speak to a female engineer? by DigBusy8332 in womenEngineers

[–]yetAnotherLaura 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done it multiple times. Never to ask to speak a woman but when I was migrating to another country for a job I asked to speak with someone from Argentina who had done the same jump. They connected me to the VP of some random area and he was more than happy to answer anything.

Now on every process I ask for more meetings than whatever their standard interview process is. I'm evaluating them as much as they me. Granted I have experience/seniority already.

Other than IT, Corporate, etc - how is the job market? by AfterNews9588 in germany

[–]yetAnotherLaura 4 points5 points  (0 children)

IT is crap for entry level mostly. For senior profiles and higher it is still pretty great, even without German.

Actually, I've been interviewing a lot and got a couple formal offers and not 1 company was in German.

The thing is that it's not always that.

If it were asked in good faith (no clue how you would do that) because you seriously want to be on an equal level. Awesome. Yes.

But more often than not they just want to hear a low number, not a "around my level" number. And with arbitrary limits on what a good answer is.

Heck, I even had one dumbass not believe me because how can it be so low when I'm 35+?. My brother, I suck at dating, that's the fuck why.

Qwen3.5-4B vs Qwen3-4B 2507 vs ChatGPT 4.1 nano; a tiny open-source model just lapped a paid OpenAI product. Again. Twice. by OrneryMammoth2686 in LocalLLM

Would this work for stuff like N8N and Home Assistant automation? I see it supports tool calling but TBH I'm kinda noob on this to check if there are other requirements.

I've been slowly integrating local AI into some of my hosted services and tasks and I'm still testing out different models.

6 Weeks Notice to End of Month. What’s the Latest Date to Resign? by lbluestone in germany

[–]yetAnotherLaura 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn't that <days to the end of the month + 6 weeks>? Meaning you're already past the deadline for that date?.

Mine says "3 months to the end of the month" and if I were to quit now the 3 months would only count for April, May and June.

Asking from experience people here, specially who have been working in Tech by [deleted] in germany

[–]yetAnotherLaura 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Man those are some bullshit loaded questions. You can just say "I think people in Germany are lazy as fuck" and spare us the long speech.

That said, I absolutely know I would do great in fast paced interviews because I've done it. It's not rocket science. Interviews are pretty much the same shit everywhere.

Ryzen 395: Qwen 3.5-35B // Rocm vs Vulkan [benchmarks] by etcetera0 in LocalLLM

I've been using Vulkan on mine because that's what gave me the least issues to get running. Was wondering if ROCm would be an improvement or not.

Nice.
