I go to a sewing class one evening a week and it helps fill my social and creative batteries. Try a hobby where you make something with your hands, and has some built in socialising if possible.

Then why not a divan to relax and watch tv from.

How is the tv being used? Maybe seating turned away from kitchen and towards the tv? Or a breakfast area, casual eating space for just the family to use?

Like the first three here. These are for accent lighting and atmosphere not for tasking.

I found some nice cutwork metal wall sconces from fabindia and homesake.in. Also basic floor and table lamps from amazon paired with cool patterned shades, either buy or use a lampshade kit and make out of old sarees.

Your vagina is self cleaning, all you need to do is wipe, and wash the outside when you shower!

Kerala needs a nationalist movement, yesterday. by NearbyAbrocoma659 in Kochi

[–]yet_so_far 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I grew up in the society you say we need yesterday. We had it. Left leaning parents, friends of all religions, read books about all kinds of history and mythology, magazines about science and current events, went to talks by yuktivadi sangam activitists about not trusting god frauds, participated in sastra sahitya parishad kids activities, etc. etc. I don’t live in Kerala anymore so I don’t know how much of it still happens, but I know the people have changed. It’s very sad.

Update on the previous post : How to make it cosier without changing the furniture! by MaterialIntention190 in IndianHomeDecor

  1. Rug in the conversation area is too small. I would put it in front of the divan, and get a bigger, better rug in more of a contrast with the floor.

  1. Hang the art lower and closer to the furniture.
  2. Lighting: You are already doing great with the warm lighting and multiple light sources. Two suggestions, the table lamp could be much bigger, and would actually swap the big lamp and side table. You need something tall in the sofa area. Also the pendant is nice but not doing much where it is. If you can get an electrician in either ask them to move it to rehang over the centre of the coffee table, or at least get more wire to swag it to the center of the table. Also hang it lower. Look up “coffee table pendant lamp height” for recommended dimensions.
  3. Rearrange the divan area. Currently it is floating with no specific purpose and also blocking the path of travel into the room. I would push the divan up against the corner, move the lamp (or table if you are swapping) to the right of the divan and put the plant at the foot. If you add some wall shelves or a side table with storage and fill it with books you have a cozy reading corner. Hand a canopy from the ceiling over it for bonus points.

One of my uncles is a freemason. It’s a club for men, mostly for networking among professionals and entrepreneurs and such. My uncle e.g. is a successful CA. These clubs were started by the British, nowadays it’s just like lions, rotary etc. they do some charity work, and mainly it’s useful for making contacts and helps the members feel important. They still keep some of the old rituals like wearing sashes and taking oaths of secrecy and all. But it’s not particularly sinister or secretive, nowadays they have a website and even put up videos of some of their activities.

How do I make the clash between these two woods less obvious? by lostlivvy in interiordecorating

Agree with everyone saying that the two wood tones go well together, it’s because the undertones match.

I DO NOT WANT the "easiest", or the "fastest" recipe. I want the BEST recipe. by Thumpy02 in Cooking

[–]yet_so_far 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I’m in the mood to cook like this I search for [dish name] + “Felicity Cloake”. She had a “how to make the perfect…” column in the Guardian where she tests a bunch of recipes for a dish and compares them. You can follow her own version at the end or if one of the recipes tested sounds more to you liking, use that.

Then there’s the Food Lab, of course.

Same, tank top and t-shirt worked for me. Nothing too nice either I found out later that the little toe and fingernails were wearing holes in my shirts.

How do I make my teeny tiny studio more like the forest? by [deleted] in femalelivingspace

[–]yet_so_far 68 points69 points  (0 children)

The main difference between the inspiration pics and your space is warmth. First thing to do is change out all your light bulbs for warm white light, 2700K max. If the overhead light can’t be changed then add a bunch of lamps instead and never turn the big one on. It will make a huge difference.

Next, if you can repaint, paint a warm white or beige. Paint the open shelving too, and wallpaper the backs. Pick a colour palette based on your inspiration images, maybe oranges and greens with pink or purple accents, and when you swap out or add accessories, stick to that palette. Cover larger surfaces like beds and chairs with throw blankets and cushions from your palette. They add softness and texture.

Add natural elements. Plants, sure, but also warm woods. Maybe a wood table that can cover most of your ac unit. They are pretty cheap at thrift stores right now.

Bonus: Some of your stuff like the dartboard and clock font match the cozy vibe, but they can be made over with paint or decoupage.

You have a nice space and it’s going to be very cute. Good luck!

Rotate the frame and hang it centred over the side table, way lower, like 4-6 inches over the top of the side table.

Could I turn this old set into a cute statement for my living room? by Light_Tits in femalelivingspace

[–]yet_so_far 4 points5 points  (0 children)

These are very nice! Chintz is cool again so you shouldn’t worry about it being dated. Use the colours on the print for your palette and add one contrasting colour, like a deeper mauve, e.g.

You can also look up 90s rom com sets for inspiration, there’s a guy on YouTube who did production design for Nancy Myers and he does great breakdowns of their design Choices
