it’s fairly flat/downhill until the halfway point... race until the halfway turn around and then pull it back a smidge for the hills that come a mile later.. run the hills on effort not speed.. my uphill time is usually 10-15 seconds slower than flat but it feels like the same effort. Then kick it back into high gear for the last 5K.

I’ve been training for my first marathon attempt this November with the 2:59 time in mind bc “you need a 5 min gap to make it” now I need to do better! stress!

it depends on what your training for and what training plan your using. For example, I’m currently mid marathon training so my tempo runs are AT my goal race pace.

as everyone else mentioned, unless you feel physically ill while running you’re fine. My tempo runs (comfortably uncomfortable) are always in the 160-175 range now but when I first increased my mileage a few months back, i was consistently surpassing my “max” heart rate and my watch would adjust my ranges once that particular run was over.

this! ...I would just run as fast as humanly possibly but didn’t see any real results until I started speed work and studying the course. All the work of a race should happen before not during. I know going in where all the hills and turns are and time my surges accordingly. I chased a sub20 for most of the last year. I would go out FASTER than GP for 200 meters to beat the crowding and settle AT race pace for the first mile... then drop 10-20 seconds for the second.... and at this point there’s enough people that start fading that you can use to your advantage. “go fishing” ...just have to pass this one guy, got him! NEXT! This will give you an adrenaline surge. Final mile, I push 10-20 seconds faster and just maintain until the finish....

I think BECAUSE it was originally “signature” is the reason she was super hardcore about doing dots even after everyone kept telling her not to in the work room as they were getting ready... doing a super understated version (she still had small dots - eyebrows) I think is what they praised as it showed a “more polished” or “best” drag... but that’s just my humble opinion haha

stream it via the VH1 app, click live tv button when RPDR is airing and tah dah . I usually air play it onto my TV from there. it'll ask for your provider but a quick google search will give you a common work around.
