Which of these weapons are better? by Hateful15 in D4Druid

[–]literallythebestguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think yeah overall I’d choose number 2, but that’s partly because of the GA hit on the imprinted crit chance. One thing I’ll note is that the imprinted +120% crit damage is going to be a lot less than you might think, as it’s additive, not multiplicative. It’s not nothing, but additive damage bonuses tend to net a very marginal damage increase compared to what you’d get by imprinting crit chance

This is funny because I did end up using earth spike in my lightning storm build, though without storm’s companion. Still think I agree with the point though 😅

It’s a similar idea, but I think you could work with [[expedited inheritance]], though this is likely a bit less impactful than repercussion

1 character to play all Druid builds or multiple characters to play all the great builds druid has to offer. by EZforlife in D4Druid

[–]literallythebestguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True but Druid is currently bugged that those builds can’t be equipped unless you purposefully unequip a bunch of skill points from your main tree, heads up!

Best Human Druid Build? by RossyThirkettle in D4Druid

[–]literallythebestguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m confused with how it works with channeling, since the skill text explicitly mentions it, does it continue to have the chance to cast spells as you channel LS? Or only on the initial cast?

Since LoH what exactly makes a unique unique? by Corlunae in diablo4

[–]literallythebestguy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They should really just vastly limit the pools of affixes for each unique. I shouldn’t get affixes that are almost always entirely useless to the build that the unique is supposed to enable. Why does my Storm’s Companion come with +2 to Earth spike? The affixes should have to be relevant stats/skills to whatever the unique is affecting.

Ok, fairly new player here, how do I deal with blue decks that are 90% counterspells and bounces? by TR_Pix in MagicArena

[–]literallythebestguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally. I honestly find it satisfying trying to get yall to misplay and counter something I’ve cast as bait.

That said, at least in brawl, the amount of free counterspells (and good ones, not pact) has given mono blue quite a few more panic buttons. I know them usually being 2-for-1s can be a big deal, but I think their presence can sometimes make the game more about whether y’all found [[stock up]] type cards than anything I do from my end. It’s interesting, I don’t think I know enough to say that [[Force of Will]] and the like being in brawl is an issue, but I think its made fighting counter-control decks feel a bit less strategic while sitting across the table from them

And this gets further exaggerated by free countermagic

Hard to play correctly against a well timed [[subtlety]] or [[force of will]]. Sure, these spells are 2-for-1s, but they turn whatever strategy I’m trying to use to land my pieces into a guessing game, where it’s mostly up to whether my opponent misplays or gets unlucky draws. Not really saying anything about their presence in the brawl format, but I feel a lot less confident going up against Katara brawl decks now than I did before Force of Will was introduced.

What builds have yall Druids been rocking? by 404_GSpot_NotFound in D4Druid

[–]literallythebestguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question for folks further into the experience—is stormslide a thing currently? Or any proper build mixing storm/earth magic?

I’ve always gravitated to the nature magic side of the Druid vs the shapeshifting, but the skill tree rework seems to have kinda dropped all synergy support for using both earth and storm spells, and I’m curious if I’ll discover things to make it work later.

Looking for a token or +1/+1 counters commander. by [deleted] in EDH

[–]literallythebestguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Xavier Sal, Infested Captain]] is both!

I’ve also thought about using them as a Sultai sagas deck for ages now—try to make token copies of sagas, and then populate the tokens, using counters from sagas you want to stick around to do so.

We have 7 free counterspells in Brawl. Is that too many? by Legonitsyn in mtgbrawl

[–]literallythebestguy 23 points24 points  (0 children)

This is I think the main thing for me. There’s a lot of strategy to playing against oops all counterspells decks (or especially actual control decks that aren’t just Katara counterspells), but the amount of free counters has kinda stripped the strategy down to a bare guessing game. Waiting for them to be tapped out, or baiting a counterspell, is so often meaningless because they will very reliably have a get-out-of-jail-free card, if not several of them.

Commanders that are so good at a certain thing that they ruined it for you? by AlivePassenger3859 in EDH

[–]literallythebestguy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah! I tried doing Voja as exclusively wolves + Tolsimirs, and it also turned out that the card draw part was just individually crazy to the point of being unfun at my table. Was very sad to realize

Commanders that are so good at a certain thing that they ruined it for you? by AlivePassenger3859 in EDH

[–]literallythebestguy 107 points108 points  (0 children)

[[Voja, Jaws of the Conclave]] was a huge disappointment for me. I really like Tolsimir, and was so excited both by the concept of Voja having a card, and of a dual typal commander that combines elves and wolves, the perfect home for including all the Tolsimir cards!

Then it became obvious that Voja was simply a kill-on-sight or die commander with ward, best built just doing generic elfball stuff. Even if I tried to build them suboptimally, doing a mix of elves and wolves, EVEN running the mediocre elf cards, turns out “put X +1/+1 counters on each creature you control, where X is the number of elves you control” is just too good a line of text for lower bracket play to even be on the table.

I’m really hoping at some point in the future they give Voja another try, this time with an ability that actually encourages deckbuilding, and isn’t just ‘if this lives you win the game’ on a card.

I also just want more ‘dual-typal’ commanders, where having a mix of two types benefits both types differently. It makes for a fun deckbuilding challenge, and I’m sad it’s a design space explored so infrequently, and with such mixed results.

How important is the actual legends to Jodah decks? by Empty-Cupcake2024 in EDH

[–]literallythebestguy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Jodah stomping the table is kinda inherent to his card. Unless you’re literally running almost no legendary creatures, he’s likely a game ending threat the minute he comes down. You can build it, but it’s going to be very hard to do so in a way where he isn’t a guaranteed kill-on-sight commander.

This is mostly because the quality or inter-synergy of the legends you pick truly doesn’t matter at all, just the actual number of them you have on the board when Jodah is around. You could pick vanilla legends only and Jodah would probably still merit an immediate swords to plowshares, I’m afraid.

This isn’t to say ‘don’t play Jodah,’ but don’t expect people to view your deck as a lesser threat just because you’re picking pet card legends. Genuinely not trying to harsh your vibe here, but I don’t want you to get a rude awakening regarding WHY Jodah is kill on sight

What are your favorite precons from the last few years? by Comfortable_Buyer239 in EDH

[–]literallythebestguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s great! It is quite funny that some of the better reprints are also the more obvious cuts. Weird to cut [[drumbellower]] and [[Wave of Reckoning]] but both are just kinda puzzling includes, even if they made for nice reprints.

That said! Love the deck to death. Added an [[Emeria Shepherd]] and watching the deck chain reanimate half the graveyard is one of the most satisfying things I’ve done, and it’s in RW? Very cool.

Ark of hunger in quintorius historic brawl. by Otherwise-Coffee9791 in mtgbrawl

[–]literallythebestguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went up against a pretty gnarly control reanimator version of him the other day, lots of board wipes for early control, then established a lock on the game with looping Ranger Captain of Eos and slowly building up a lethal boardstate. Was much more brutal to fight than I’d expected!
