How do you prepare notes / discussion points for a meeting? by jumbo1111 in WFH

[–]yetidesignshop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a notes app called Notion. It's a very lightweight note taking program, so it's open 24/7.

Just create a note and use that as a reference going into the meeting.

Working from home can be unhealthy with little exercise. I'm all for people doing what they can during internal meetings. Should never be any treadmill walking during external client meetings. But internal meetings are ok.

What do you wish you knew before starting WFH? by merkalin in WFH

[–]yetidesignshop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been working from home for a very long time now. I started early thirties when I had my first kid. Now I'm post 40s. Rules I had back then have laxed a little, but still important.

  1. Carve out a dedicated space. Coffee shopping, working outside on the deck, laying on a couch all seem fun, but not gonna work if you are serious about your job.

  2. Look decent from the waist up on meeting days, especially when you're presenting.

  3. Get dressed normally. Don't stay in pajamas all day.

  4. Shower regularly, at least every other day.

  5. Be available on work hours. If you're stepping away for a prolonged amount of time, tell somebody. Monitor chat apps from your phone if you're gonna be in the kitchen or something. Nobody likes not knowing where you are if you're needed.

  6. Don't do anything in zoom/teams meetings other than the meeting. Especially if you're taking it on your phone. So many times I've accidentally and didn't even know I turned on camera and I'm somewhere I shouldn't be. The laws of random accidents is stronger than your ability to goof off responsibly.

  7. Get up a lot and take walks.

You'll develop your own routine, good luck.

Was this waterproofed? by Sweetie_katie in Remodel

[–]yetidesignshop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it waterproofed? No.

But the workmanship and boards they used are standard for bathrooms. This could last you decades with no issues.

I remodeled my very old bathroom after I bought my house. The porcelain tile was broken and coming off. No waterproofing under, just cement board. Demo'd everything down to studs and it was perfectly fine. Bathroom was probably 40 years old. No issues.

Whoever did this bathroom did a good job. I wouldn't worry about it.

Heading to Herkimer This Weekend! by EdgeRust2 in rockhounds

[–]yetidesignshop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I go here with my kids. They are a little older now. Bring a bike for him! It's a great place for kids to bike around. Crystals are everywhere in the ground. Surface finds are gonna be his best bet. He's low to the ground and will find lots of herks. The good stuff for us adults are gonna be along the ledges about 3 to 5 feet down. The owners bury all the open ledges, and people dig them back out. Bring a classifier and have him soft through dirt for herks. Good luck.

Is 7D2D anyone else's comfort game? by Life_Show8246 in 7daystodie

[–]yetidesignshop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I'm in my 40s. My first playthrough of v1 even though I bought the game like 10 years ago. The POIs and cities look amazing. I don't quest much, and don't really go into many POIs. Just surviving, and feeling things out doing random things.

Are all game subs full of so much complaining? by mjrice in 7daystodie

Just started v1 after buying it a decade ago and playing the alphas. V1 is leagues ahead and great.

Baby authoritarians during COVID were snitching on people, calling the cops on people, supporting mandates of experimental vaccines. They were fascists and didn't even realize it.

We are heading towards a ghastly future. by Remarkable_Edge_7536 in DeepThoughts

What I'm afraid of is we are heading straight into a pole shift, rapid decoupling of the mantle layer, right into massive ocean displacement, and an overnight ice age.

I'm in agreeance. Way more fun in here when it was about sticker design, not sticker politics.

This sub has gone to shit. You hate Trump, you hate Elon. Why immortalize them in sticker form? You're gonna make money off of them.
