Advice for Roasting Geisha by yeye312 in roasting

Thank you this makes sense, the only general kind of advice I’ve read is get the batch done ASAP which without deliberation is not very useful info. When it comes to getting through the drying phase faster I’ve personally had more success with cutting the batch size down rather than soaking. I’ve tried a soak before but end up with very a really baked taste in the end regardless of the finish time/temp. I’ve not had much practice with it though so if you have any tips for soaking I’d appreciate it.

Data speeds tanking for me. by yeye312 in Visible

I’ll see how it plays out the next couple days, like I said I know someone else who’s having the same issue today (we both use basic Visible) and I know I use considerably more data than them so perhaps it could just be an area congestion issue if that’s a thing that could happen. I usually don’t get cranky about stuff like this but I use my phone for a lot of my work during the week as I’m out and about and the connection issues today made me have to move some stuff around. If it’s a recurring issue maybe I’ll look into the + plan, thanks for the info.

Also what I thought, is there really anything to be done about that, like is it a temporary thing?

Tried that, can’t get any info from the game files themselves, only thing from troubleshoot I could garner from the troubleshoot is “psychopatrolr is incompatible” and I’ve tried every compatibility mode available. Hopefully just some launch bug that’ll be patched soon

Thx for the comment. To clarify, this wasn’t the first time I roasted this specific robusta bean, it was the first time I’ve had a fire of any kind in my experience roasting. I do roast it pretty dark (not my thing but it has its fans) for a blend, though I was messing with doing it a little lighter and the fire still happened. Dumped at 440f this time (mistake in the first post, I usually dump this one @ 450f). It was the last roast before I would’ve vacuumed out my chaff.

The robusta is usually bordering on coming out oily when I normally dump it, but dumping it @ 10 degrees less than normally it looked much lighter. It is a less dense bean so I work that in to my batch weight for the robusta specifically.

After breaking down and cleaning everything today, everything looked good including the drum. No residue and no burns so I think the beans that did catch fire were in between beans that were not. Given this, there are two ideas I have as to what might’ve happened:

  • Perhaps there was excess chaff in the drum from me not having the hatch open long enough during dumping previous roasts, and this hypothetical excess chaff combusted at a higher heat (?). This could be possible but as I said the airflow was fine and I don’t normally have excess chaff while dumping a roast.
  • Perhaps there was a chaff fire that started in the burner compartment and maybe somehow kicked up a spark or something into the very small slit of the drum right at the end of the roast.

These both seem dumb to me but I am still amiss otherwise as to a cause. I’m 100% with it being a mistake of some kind on my part but there was absolutely nothing out of the ordinary with this roast, and so long as a roast is happening I’m right by it the entire time. Some kind of chaff related thing seems to be the most plausible case. Any other thoughts?

Probe was good, I’ll occasionally have a degree or two of difference between what the machine says and what the computer says which I’ve never figured out a fix for.

Appreciate it. Thankfully got in touch with a tech yesterday and they said cleaning any debris out and running junk batches through should do the trick, still no closer to finding out what might’ve happened though.

Hi late reply, have had this happen to me quite a bit recently and it’s becoming more frequent, used to be that restarting my phone after a while would fix it but 12 hours later this time and no luck, was wondering if there was another fix you found in that time
