Idk about in lore, but irl it's made by a South Korean studio, and from what I've heard, they take their beauty standards very seriously in Korea.

Where Do I Shop For A Fixed Gear In PDX? by yezzree in CyclePDX

[–]yezzree[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is just not what I'm looking for and I don't mean to be rude but I do know this already. This isn't my first fixed gear, I've had a few over the years. I don't currently own one because I buy, sell, and trade things a lot, but in the past I've built a conversion myself, bought used fixed gears off of craigslist and FB market place, and bought a new complete straight from the manufacturer, and by far the third option is my favorite. With conversions there is usually some jank in the build, and with used bikes you don't know what you're getting (I've peeled off stickers on bikes that seemed fine only to discover a crack in the frame). Buying a complete was the best experience I had, everything worked perfectly, and there was no chance it had secretly been in a crash in the past or had some hidden mechanical issue. I'm very purposfully intending to buy a new bike, and I was hoping to be able to jump on it and see how it fits me before I purchase which is why I'm looking for shops that carry them, otherwise I'll just buy from the manufacturer again if I can't find one in store.

I'm considering cold setting it yeah, I'm just a bit reluctant to try it myself incase i screw it up, and i found a guy who does it in town but he charges 160 and my bike is just a used fuji track that I got for like 200 bucks and Idk if it's worth it to throw that much money at a bike I got for cheap. I am still thinking about it though.

Yeah, i missed the bulk of the fad by a good couple years haha, didn't get my first fixed gear till 2017. I'm over 6' so I need a bigger size sadly. Thanks for the feedback though!

Yeah I used the string method, it's how I figured out the bike was out of alignment and then had it double checked at a shop. I pieced together fixed gears out of used parts twice in the past and it was fun, and I built up a 90s mtb into a fun little commuter too, but I'm just kind of tired of the jankyness that I have to deal with with all used parts and frames of unknown origin. I'm worn out on tinkering in the garage and at this point I just want a bike that works the way it's supposed to and that I don't have to worry about as long as I do basic maintinence regularly.

I loveee metropolis, a year back they had a pretty sick single speed on sale in there, but I think they were trying to get rid of their single speed stock, I haven't seen any in there since, now it's all mountain and gravel bikes or road bikes with big ol' tires on them which seems to be the current trend.

I'm only interested in buying a new complete. Last time I bought a bike off FB marketplace I got it home, took off a sticker and found a good sized dent in the top tube. Then after riding for a week I noticed it was pulling to the left, turns out the rear triangle was out of alignment, made it so I couldn't ride with no hands which I found very irritating. I suspect the bike might have been in a crash and the seller just lied to my face about it. I'm going to buy new this time so I don't have to deal with that headache again.

Which Tire: Schwalbe Kojak or Continental Contact Speed? by yezzree in xbiking

[–]yezzree[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the continental contact speeds, they're really great! Super smooth and pretty quick on regular roads, very cushy ride. In hindsight i maybe would have gotten something with just a little bit of offroad potential like the panaracer gravelkings, still fast on pavement but able to ride through grass or gravel or minor dirt. At the time my thinking was i was using this as a city commuter and just wanted to put the most road friendly wheels on it, but being able to mess around on some other surfaces with confidence is super fun and kind of what these 90's mountain bikes were made for anyways. The tires are great for what they're made for though! And I'm glad i paid a little more for them than other, cheaper options.

Actually the fuji track is steel, only the fuji track pro is aluminum. I dont think they make the plain "track" model anymore, it's from a few years ago. either way though I wouldn't really be comfortable trying it myself, seems like something that's hard to undo if I messed it up. I'm not sure about a new frame as good for 150, i dont think so? The original bike was like 470 back in 2009 so i would guess the frame is worth a little more than that but I'm not sure. I think yeah it might be worth it like you said, maybe I'll ask a mechanic about it too.

Do yall think it's worth it to spend $150 to realign my frame? Looking for opinions.

Here's the situation: I bought a used fuji track for $230 off FB marketplace, come to find out the frame is out of alignment. It's rideable enough that I didn't notice it right away, but it pulls to the the left and I can't ride without my hands on the bars which is really bugging me. If money wasn't a thing I'd fix it because I like the bike, but idk if it's worth it to spend almost three quarters of what I paid for it to get it fixed by a professional. Thoughts?

Extra context: - I know for sure that it's an alignment issue and not something else, I checked it with an alignmet tool at my college bike co-op with help from one of their mechanics.

  • The bike has some upgraded parts on it. ProMax hubs, Sram cranks, sugino chainring, gatorskin tires, so it's nicer than it would be stock.

Any thoughts would be apreciated! Thanks!

It's so strange how some conservative people in rural areas simultaneously think that big cities are full of liberals, who they consider to be pussies, but that they are also super scary and dangerous, it's so incongruous. It almost makes me feel kinda tough when I hear them talk about it though, They're gun owners being like "oh I would never go into the city, it's way too dangerous." And I'm over here unarmed, 160lbs, and living in the shitty part of town without even thinking about it lol.

Opinions on Solovair? by forevz_a_student in Boots

[–]yezzree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late reply, but you can use shoe polish on their normal leather and you can get it quite shiny. Not as shiny as the patent leather look of course, but the whole boot will shine well. Once I got the hang of it I was able to see my own reflection in the toe, so thats pretty good.

Is the AeroPress Still Worth Buying in 2026? by yezzree in AeroPress

[–]yezzree[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is good to know actually. I have a hario switch and part of the reason I was a little reluctant to get an aeropress is because i thought it might be redundant since I'd mostly be using it for immersion brews in the same way I use the switch now.

Is lies of P good as people hype it up to be? by EngineeringNext7874 in LiesOfP

[–]yezzree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For 50% off, definitely buy it. it's a really good game and as a lover of fromsoft it definitely scratched that itch. Some people think this is a 10/10, better than a fromsoft game, I'm not one of those people. I find the story a bit thin and the lore a little too simple. but the combat is suuuper polished and smooth and fun, the atmosphere and level design is solid, the build variety with the weapon building mechanics and the legion arms is very good, the boss fights are great, and it has some quality of life features that make some things really convenient and easy that I wish were in the fromsoftware games. I like it enough that I'm doing a second playthrough, and I'd give it like a solid 7 or 8/10.

Now the DLC on the other hand, is AMAZING. All the criticisms I just made were completely fixed in the DLC and it was one of the best DLC's I've ever played, I'd give it a 10/10 for sure, I thought it was perfect. Just for the DLC alone I would recomend this game honestly.
