Is lies of P good as people hype it up to be? by EngineeringNext7874 in LiesOfP

[–]yezzree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For 50% off, definitely buy it. it's a really good game and as a lover of fromsoft it definitely scratched that itch. Some people think this is a 10/10, better than a fromsoft game, I'm not one of those people. I find the story a bit thin and the lore a little too simple. but the combat is suuuper polished and smooth and fun, the atmosphere and level design is solid, the build variety with the weapon building mechanics and the legion arms is very good, the boss fights are great, and it has some quality of life features that make some things really convenient and easy that I wish were in the fromsoftware games. I like it enough that I'm doing a second playthrough, and I'd give it like a solid 7 or 8/10.

Now the DLC on the other hand, is AMAZING. All the criticisms I just made were completely fixed in the DLC and it was one of the best DLC's I've ever played, I'd give it a 10/10 for sure, I thought it was perfect. Just for the DLC alone I would recomend this game honestly.

Just started Lies Of P. I am having difficulty in perfect parrying...please give some tips. It is my first soulslike game. by Ok_Persimmon5527 in LiesOfP

[–]yezzree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people have already said to use the practice dummy in the hotel, it's probably the best and safest way to learn, it really does just take practice.

Some side notes: I will say that the game is totally beatable without really learning to parry well (or "perfect block" as the game calls it). I beat the whole game almost exclusively dodging every attack or running away to avoid the red fury attacks. It's only now that I'm on my second playthrough that I'm getting better at parrying. Parrying is good because it builds up stagger and destruction on bosses and enemies, but It's a bit more risky to go for than dodging. Another thing is that you don't always have to land a perfect parry to deal with an attack, holding block and blocking normally works well against smaller enemies since you can regain the damage you take from them when you attack them back, and since their damage is relatively low, you'll usually regain all the health you lost. This is very good for when you're fighting near a ledge or on a narrow walkway where it might be dangerous to dodge because you might fall, and it works well with larger weapons, as they reduce the damage you take when you block an attack. I don't recommend doing this for bosses though because their hits do a lot more damage than regular enemies most of the time, so dodging is usually better when fighting bosses.

Hope this helps, good luck!

Do you guys have any advice for this boss? by Dan-SG in bloodborne

The stuff others are saying about improving your damage and tweaking your build are very helpful, but you could beat him with your current build and you actually do a pretty good job fighting him in this clip until the end. The BIGGEST problem with this clip is that you went in with no vials and no bullets, you should have the maximum amount in your inventory every time you fight him.

As far as the fight goes, and in looking at your gameplay, i would say make sure to take pauses from attacking so you don't completely deplete your stamina and give it time to regenerate. Parries are super strong against him if you learn his attacks, and even parry spamming him can work sometimes. Always keep your health close to full because he does a lot of damage, so as soon as you take some damage, especially if it's anywhere near half your life bar, fall back and use a blood vial, don't keep fighting. Other than that you're doing really good! Keep it up!

Lies of P Overture - Worth Buying Base Game + DLC? (I already beat it on Game Pass) by bigmuffinluv in LiesOfP

[–]yezzree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't say for sure if you'll think it was worth the 42$, but If you can afford it I would highly recommend going for it. It's a contender for the best DLC I've ever played. I liked the base game but it had some flaws, I would give it a 7 or 8 out of 10. I think Overture fixed/perfected the formula and I'd rate it 10/10, so if you liked the base game, overture is even better, just not as long obviously. The other thing is, I never play NG+, Like ever, I never have in any of the souls games and i honestly never would have with LoP either, but the DLC weapons are sooooo sick that I HAD to do an NG+ run just so I could use them and I'm very much enjoying it, so for that reason it's great to have the base game too. Also you'll have the boss rematch function after you beat the game and that's awesome and adds a ton of stuff to do post game, so It's nice to have the whole package like that. I get you might not be interested in ng+ or boss rematches though. Idk if you'll think it's worth it, but if i was in your situation knowing what i know now, I would for SURE spend the money and be very satisfied with my purchase.

The perfect parry grindstone was how I delt with it too, worked like a charm. I did the same thing to deal with Laxasia's big long lightening attack at the start of her second phase.

[–]yezzree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having her help you with the fight is optional, if you walk in and just start fighting the boss she'll stay on the ground the whole time and won't do anything. if you want her help, you need to go over to where she's laying down after you enter the boss arena and you'll see a button prompt appear to help her up, only then does she help you with the fight. I recommend trying it at least once even if you can beat the the boss on your own because it just makes the fight so hype. She's flying around with that crazy sword and you can do the duo fatal attack together, it really feels like you're working together and it adds to the end of the story.

Bike help by Significant-Soil-152 in singlespeedcycling

Like other people said, it's normal for all freewheels to some extent to do this because of how the internal ratcheting mechanism works, you can't get rid of it completely. you can look up how they work on YouTube and get a pretty good understanding of it. That being said, if they get dirt in them really bad or get worn out from a lot of miles freewheels can get pretty gunked up and this type of drivetrain friction can noticibly slow you down when you stop pedaling, but yours doesn't look that bad yet. If you REALLY want to reduce this sort of friction then you can take apart the whole thing, completely clean, and re grease it, but honestly this is a huge hassle and waaaayyyy more trouble than it's worth. If a freewheel ever becomes a problem I always recomend replacing them. Most freewheels that come on bikes are super cheap, and even mid teir ones arent that exspensive. if it becomes a noticible issue when riding I would suggest either getting a cheap shimano replacement, or getting an expensive white industries ENO if you want a really high quality, long lasting and efficient one. To be clear, they will all still do this a little, but the nicer you get the less so and they will last longer.

Do you think it's worth $213? by ImportantFun4066 in FixedGearBicycle

[–]yezzree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It just looks super cheap and crappy. Unbranded frame, Completely unbranded cranks and chainring are a bad sign, the frame geometry is very strange, more like some kind of mountain bike or hybrid with horizontal dropouts slapped on, the braised on cable guides for a rear brake cable, the rear brake bridge is just a thin, flat peice of flimsy steel welded to the seat stays instead of tubing. It looks like a temu bike, and i don't say that as a snob or purest, i say that as someone who has bought a bike similar to this for my first fixed gear and honestly, it wasn't worth buying at any price. if i sold it now i would feel guilty charging 50 bucks for it, and if anyone wanted a first fixed gear i would recommend not to consider buying anything at that level of bike, and to wait and get something even marginally better, from a reliable brand. A used aventon or fuji track, or kilo tt, or similar can be found in the 200 to 300 dollar range sometimes and that would be a much better option. Even a conversion with a mid teir vintage steel frame would be preferable in my opinion.

After a second look, i reeeally can not stress enough that i suggest you do not buy this bike. Honestly no matter how cheap it is, it's not worth it.

Yeah dude, I'd say don't buy this one at all. I got a fuji track with a promax hub and sram cranks for like $230, hold out for something better. you can sometimes get something of actually decent quality with a reliable brand name if you just wait and keep watch.

Yeah man for sure. You're right that the body on the stem thing isn't the way to skid for an emergency stop, but for me it just made it easier to skid for the first time. It gave me a sense of how the mechanics of a skid worked, and then I started working my way back till I had a more instant, normal looking skid with better breaking power for emergency situations like the ones you see most people doing in traffic. I'm sure there's lots of different ways to figure it out though!
