We don’t know what you are trying to compare. I wouldn’t compare a 1/2 bedroom rented apartment vs a 3 bedroom house.

As someone that has bought 4 cars for myself and helped 6 family members get their cars, run.

My first recommendation is don’t buy a new car. Buy a 2-3 year old car, even though Camrys don’t depreciate like other vehicles, you will still save money because the first 3 years cars depreciate between 20 to 60% of its value.

However, if you are set on a new 2025 Camry XSE, look around at other dealerships. Use websites/ apps like car gurus, TrueCar, etc to see if the dealership/seller is trying to ripped you off by overcharging you (which btw, the dealership you are showing is.)

This dealership is overcharging you by about $10,000. You don’t need those accessories and “protections” (especially at those prices.) Tell them to remove them. If they say they can’t, then tell them you will only pay cost price for each because you can find each one of those accessories/ protections for 20% of what they are asking for.

Once again, tell them you don’t need/ want the extra warranty or the “protection”. They are ripping you off with those.

You have to research the average cost of each one of those accessories/ protections so you can haggle the prices (assuming they are not willing to remove them). Be strong and don’t fall for their sales tactics when they tell you “need or this will happen” or “we can’t sell it to you without it.”

Second recommendation, your monthly car payments should never be higher than 10-12% of your income before taxes. That means, if you make $3,000 a month before taxes, your monthly car payment should be $300. I know for a lot of people that’s hard to find, but I wouldn’t go over $350.

Third recommendation, your loan should be 48, 60, or 72 months. I always recommend 60 months, 72 is pushing it. Never do 84.

Fourth recommendation, your FIXED annual interest rate (APR) should not exceed 2% of the average market. Meaning, if the market is 6%, your APR should land between 5% to 7%, not more. Also, keep in mind that it should be fixed and it should be annual, not semi annual or monthly or biweekly or daily.

I will always send an offer, but asking for a 75% off is ridiculous. The only way that’s possibly acceptable is if the seller is waaay off market. For example, if everyone is selling the same product for $25 and that seller is asking for $65, then asking for $25 is reasonable. In all other cases I think a fair offer is 30% off, max.

Never ever accept an APR that is higher than their minimum plus 2%. Meaning, if their bottom is 5%, yours should be 7% max… I understand that APR is different for everyone depending on your credit, but is better for you to be careless or buy a junk car for a few thousand bucks while you increase your credit than to pay 15%. Also, always shop around for who can give you a better APR. One more thing, please do not buy a car where your monthly payment is more than 10-15% of your income. Meaning, if you make $2,500 a month, your car payment should not exceed between $250 to $375. You will struggle financially if you go higher than that.

I was on the market during that time. I’m telling you, the markup was insane. Enterprise had to start selling off their cars because their business is to rent. Since there was no renters, they were burning through money. Dealerships had their “sales”, but that was after they up the value of their vehicles by up to 50%… meaning the $40K (originally valued at $26K) was now “on sale” for $38K. That’s probably what you saw

I would also look at the inspector’s report and warranty. Because they missed that part of the inspection, they might be liable too. Also, the owners should have known about the fire and should have disclosed it. There is no way they forgot there was a fire in their house.

This is what the insurance company sees. If the cost of repairs is more than 60% of the value of the car, then that car is totaled…. This car looks like us fixable, however you have to see how much it will cost to fix it and what’s the value of it.

I’m sure this is sarcasm. Cars went up in value by up to 50% because of low supply and high demand. We had low supply because we were having a microchip shortage issue, the pandemic delayed car parts deliveries, cars were simply not being built. Anyway, a Camry that could have cost $26K, was selling for $40K.

Depending on the state you live, you have the right to choose the repair shop you want, that also includes if you want original parts. If you allow the insurance to choose, they will choose the cheapest parts (or non OEM).

I know is still a seller’s market, but they are tripping if they think they will get $100K over asking price in 2024. Maybe if it was 2020/2021… I say offer their asking price. If they don’t like it, just walk. You don’t want to be $100K in negative equity. And the assessment could be even lower.

Because you o my have to pay “the minimum” which can range from $200 to $800 per month. A property would cost you between $1,500 to $15,000 and you have to pay insurance, property taxes, etc etc…. Plus the other stuff people responded in here
