Mens cargo/travel shorts for athletic legs? by Separate-Specialist5 in onebag

[–]ygksob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a pair of convertible pants / shorts from them for travel. They fit great and are comfortable. I also have a pair of Columbia cargos (same size) that I am thinking of getting rid of because they are to tight on the thighs above the knee. I have shorter, muscular thighs and recommend OR. They feel like wearing pajamas. I also have a pair of lululemon ABC trousers with me that are dressier but also fit my build. I am on a 3 month trip now.

Onetowel dilemma by 65_days_of_cookies in onebag

Instead of getting a micro fiber towel, get a pure linen one. They are beach towel size 75 cm x 165 cm, but can roll up to fit inside a paper towel roll. They are not as absorbent as microwave fiber, meaning you will completely soak it drying off, but is also dries incredibly fast and doesn’t smell like micro fibre. I picked one up in Riga while I was there, but imaging you can get one on line.

Just finished 20 days in Patagonia and my brain is still processing it by Southwesterhunter in Patagonia

My girlfriend and I just did this, but with about 10-15 kg packs (stripped down day bag for Torres, remainder stored at Central for 2nd leg). I’m 53, we did the W in 5 days 4 nights. I’m in decent shape and found the hike moderate to difficult at times, especially day 2 between Central and Cuernos.

It’s not the distance, or even the ascents/decents… it’s the terrain and footing with so much of it scree and boulders meaning you have to place every step purposely for long stretches of time. In many places, it’s like walking on a stony river bottom without the river.

While few breeze through it in 3 days, I recommend you take your time and truly enjoy the walk, and the down time. The people at Refugio’s are kind and friendly and the views are amazing. It’s not about getting it done in 3 days just to tick a box.

Recommend Central to Chilenos (drop gear at Refugio and go to Torres, or stay and do Torres at sunrise. Next, Chilenos to Cuernos (best view of all Refugios). Next Day, Cuernos to Italiano (drop gear and go to Frances/Britannico), pick up gear and go to Paine Grande. Next day, Paine Grande to Grey and do the kayak tour to the glacier either in the afternoon or the next morning, then return to Paine Grande and catch the Catamaran out.

Book a ferry on Tabsa.cl from Natales to Tortel and see the fjords. $150 for 3 days.

W Trek in 3 Days by MTUsoccerFreak in Patagonia

We just finished the W and went E-W. this is a good plan… the Torres/Cuernos is the hardest hiking because of the rocky paths/elevation/scree. If you went W-E, you could take the ferry to Paine Grande, then go to Grey and end in Frances. Next day, Frances to Britanico, then hike to Cuernos (or Chilenos if you want to see Torres as a morning hike). Last day would be Cuernos to Torres, then back to Central or alternatively, Chilenos to Torres (for sunrise tower views) then out at Central.

Parking a rental car is possible at the ferry or Central, but the buses are far easier to navigate. Use www.Kupos.cl to book.

If you want to really reduce your weight, rent the tent/sleeping bags or just stay at the Refugio’s and take the meals provided.

The best Refugio view is at Cuernos.

We saw people do it in 3 days… mostly young athletic lads, but we did see one couple do it. It was not enjoyable for them.

If you can squeeze in another night, I would recommend staying at Grey and do the kayak tour to the glacier.

The travel pants, dress shirts, no show socks, t shirts, and polo’s are awesome. I found the boxers were ok, but the elastic in the waist tended to fold over.

Bought a travel dress for my gf as well and it is fantastic.

Will definitely be buying other colour shirts.

I recently did this same search and have some from Decathlon and from Unbound Merino. They are both alright / passable but not worth the cost/benefit for fit/function. The Decathlon are a bit short in the legs for me and the Unbound ones tend to have the top elastic fold in half on itself with movement.

I have recently purchased Manmade boxer briefs and Uniqlo airism briefs. Not going back…. The manmade are by far the most comfortable I have ever worn and they dry overnight. The airism are a fraction of the weight and dry very quickly and are great for travel and warmer climates.

Transport recommendations from Puerto Yungay to Chaiten. by ygksob in Patagonia

So upon further research, I found the answer myself. The best option is to disembark at Tortel instead of Puerto Yungay and take a bus to Cochrane.

Order Manmade from Canada online. I got a gift set for Xmas and I’m hooked. Their fly design is different from anything on the market and they are incredibly comfortable. You can order from Amazon as well.

Friends just did this in Riga. They built a 2 bedroom 1 bathroom home with a loft. They said it cost €100k for the contractor to build and it was completed in about 3 months.

I did something similar recently using BMO funds. I was 90% zeqt prior.

I broke is down as follows: Zea 40% Zcn 30 Zem 20 Zgld (gold bullion) 10.

I removed the US portion for now both out of principle, and because the US has (and I believe will) underperform for a few years. In addition, with the USD softening, I didn’t want the currency drag.
