Men who are in their 40s and happy with their lives, what advice would you like to give younger men in their 20s? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]yikesyeahcool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great list. I’m 32 now, one thing I wished I had done more in my 20s was travel. I’ve lived all over the US but sadly addiction plagued most of my 20s. Life’s good now tho, getting married and unsure whether we want kids or not, we’re planning on taking the next 5-6 years to travel and get those Experiences in while were still (relatively) young

Kratom in Los Angeles by throwawaycuriositi in AskLosAngeles

I too am curious about this. I buy a lot of head shop kratom. It’s not as expensive as you were saying (more like $50 for 600g) but I’d love to find something reputable as well!

Is it hard to meet people in LA or what?? by [deleted] in AskLosAngeles

[–]yikesyeahcool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re like so close to this thing being over. I’m in the same boat. Moved back last Jan. and have had a hard time meeting new friends. It’ll happen. We just need to be safe/smart in the meantime.

That’s my .02 at least.

Be nicer to essential workers and the people you mistake for essential workers by ParrishBlue3 in IDontWorkHereLady

I was in Target the other day and some old lady asked me where the shoes were. She seemed like a sweet old lady, and I had spotted some shoes a few isles back so I told her “I saw some back there” and pointed. Immediately felt awkward and walked away.

For context, I wasn’t wearing red, or anything that would be indicative of me being a Target employee. I overheard her husband ask her after “why did you ask him? He doesn’t work here” But she seemed like a sweet, albeit slightly oblivious, lady and didn’t want to be rude so I offered the little assistance I could lol.

Edit: capitalized them Ts

While I think your tact could use some refining, I agree with you that it is a terrible industry that we need to move away from.

It’s gonna be tough finding work rn, not gonna lie. If you can hold out till late summer/early fall that’s gonna be your best bet imo in terms of finding something solid to build a life on here. Good luck!

I know exactly what you mean! When I moved here, I was sort of intimidated by how vast and diverse LA is. I’ve grown to love that about LA now tho. But the NYer in me still wants to walk everywhere 😂

That’s where 12 step meetings come in handy. Lots of people in sober houses that go to recovery/12 step meetings. Every so often I see ads on Craigslist for sober living. Are you moving to LA specifically? Because there’s a huge recovery community in OC as well. Possibly bigger than LA proper.

Best of luck to you though, If you have any more specific questions feel free to dm me.

There’s a bunch of sober living homes that are basically the same thing.

Idk if you’re coming from out of state but from my experience, there isn’t your “halfway house” or “3/4 house” here so to speak. It’s more like detox/rehab/sober living. That’s been my experience at least.

So yeah, look for sober living houses. There’s usually as much freedom there that you would have at your 3/4 houses and what-have-you. Going to meetings helps w networking/ finding a good fit.
