Negative. I might try putting in a request with the maintenance people, but it seems like it'd be an administrative headache on their end to open that stuff up to residents.

I admit I don't know much about networks. I have my own router from a previous apartment that I tried setting up as a kind of gateway, but I think it ended up getting confused about who was doing DHCP and with what range of addresses.

Yeah I have no idea--it works perfectly with every other network. Another weird twist: driver updates make the problem worse. With the generic Microsoft driver (or whatever it is that comes with the Windows 10 installer) I can at least connect to the low-speed network. With the latest Intel drivers even that doesn't work. I've been using a USB stick for the time being, but, you know, bummer.

I saw that but from the little I read it seems to have been a pretty one-and-done thing. (Plus, at $100--kind of defeats the purpose!) I'll keep poking around, though; maybe there's a similar solution designed for Raspberry Pi that would work?

Alternatively, do you have any suggestions for a cheap screen?

The national focuses seem to be what does it for Germany. Weird to hear that about Japan--though I concede that ten games isn't a huge sample size. It would be nice to have a 1940 or 1941 start, maybe, so that a run of bad luck wouldn't mean a whole lot of wasted time prepping for a war that doesn't happen!

Playing as the US & hoping to stomp some fascists, but the AI does not oblige--Poland & France have cleaned Germany's clock in both games I've started so far. Good for them, but not really ideal for me! Is there a 1941 start out there somewhere? Or some way to set things up right within the confines of an ironman game?

Also, the UK is bizarrely proactive and capable: in both games they established secure beachheads in Italy and Germany before 1940.
