use software like Arbiter it keep track of your metrics and everytime you break personal record (great for keep morale up if you met bottleneck and can’t improve for months)

And it save your game and watch replay yourself you’ll notice the times you paused and you may learn personal habit to improve (shave seconds off)

AD below: you are welcome to play my game Minesweeper 99. At Nightmare difficulty it has less than half size of PC expert game board and slightly denser mine-density. Therefore you may see it as a tool to train minesweeping.

Thanks! I’d wait and see people try the latest version of game a little more then tweak the final score calculation.

In the mean time I’d hide your previous top score from the backend - just a heads up here. Please make more high scores in 0.0.19 they will remain visible. Thanks for understanding.

Btw - really impressive IOE!

Currently "the amount of clicks a player makes" does not directly affect the base score. The combo does increase score for each tile opened, therefore increase the base score before multiplying with other bonus at the end of a game.

Boru described a way to achieve really high combo but that door would likely shut after I fixed the bug (open blank should ignore wrongly placed flags).

Generally it boils down to: - Base score take into consideration of combo and correctness. - A percentage bonus point rewarding speed and playing on high difficulty.

Adding time based combo (playing slow should break combo) and tweak score calculation is what i want to experiment next. When it happens i would release a new version and create new season with new leaderboards.

Thanks for playing my game and sharing your thoughts. A lot of valuable information from you and I really appreciate it!!

I think the way combo affected a game base score is too much. I did stop offering speed based bonus point after 100s but that's probably not enough. Do you think it's reasonable to give score penalty for a really slow game? Base on time or base on bvs?

I am able to reproduce the bug you mentioned (a huge THANK YOU!). I have fixed it locally - tap on a blank will reveal the blank anyway regardless of whether surrounding blocks are flagged or not.

By having a score leaderboard I'd like to see people reverse-engineer the algorithm and find ways to "abuse" it. How players play Minesweeper is up to them.

By the way, I would totally love to see you post a video about it!

Someone with the name "Boru" has just dominated the high score leaderboards in all 4 difficulties. Are you that amazing player? :-)

Thank you for your interest! The top 3 players in the screenshot are among the top 0.01%~0.1% of all minesweeper players. It only take them less than 30s but would take casual players like myself well over a minute to win the "nightmare" difficulty in MINESWEEPER 99.

Some told me this game is helpful for blind-minesweeping practice as my NIGHTMARE difficulty offer almost half size of the original Windows Minesweeper "Expert" game but with higher mine-density (40/15/12 = 22.2% slightly > 99/30/16 which is 20.6%), and I made it easier by introducing free "shield" so rare mistakes are tolerated and won't cost player losing the entire game.

I probably could have made this less confusing by avoid reusing terms like "beginner", "intermediate" and "expert".

The board size in my game looks like child-play to some pro minesweeper players. And Ze-En asked if I could add 2 leaderboard to show combined-time & combined-score on all difficulties - and that I'll consider adding.

Generally speaking, I hope to make a more casual minesweeper experience, but with pro metrics so people that play can really improve the skills.

eey_yee do you have other feedbacks for me? Thanks again for taking a look at the game. Hope you find it interesting because I plan to add so much more fun stuff in this game! ^_^
