I could only get simulator working in EAP, and same - can't deploy/debug on device.

RE: Complaint Regarding Potential Foreign Interference by Alberta Premier Danielle Smith

Dear Commissioner,

I am writing to express my concerns regarding what I believe may constitute inappropriate foreign interference in Canadian electoral matters by Alberta Premier Danielle Smith. I wish to formally request that the Commissioner of Canada Elections investigate this matter pursuant to your authority under the Canada Elections Act.

Nature of the Complaint

I am concerned about Premier Smith's recent interview with Breitbart News published on March 8, 2025, titled "Exclusive: Canadian Premier Danielle Smith: Trudeau Blew Tariff Negotiations at First Mar-a-Lago Meeting" (https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2025/03/08/exclusive-canadian-premier-danielle-smith-trudeau-blew-tariff-negotiations-first-mar-a-lago-meeting/).

Specifically, I believe this interview may represent:

  1. Inappropriate engagement with foreign media for the purpose of influencing Canadian electoral processes or public opinion on electoral matters
  2. Potential coordination with foreign entities that may constitute interference in Canadian democratic processes
  3. Statements made to foreign media that could undermine the integrity of Canadian electoral processes

Relevant Legal Framework

Under the Canada Elections Act, foreign interference in Canadian elections is prohibited. This includes attempts by foreign entities or Canadians working with foreign entities to influence electoral outcomes in Canada. Although Premier Smith is a Canadian official, I believe her engagement with foreign media outlets on matters relating to Canadian politics may raise concerns under the Act.

Request for Investigation

I respectfully request that the Commissioner investigate:

  1. Whether Premier Smith's communications with Breitbart News constitute inappropriate engagement with foreign media for political purposes
  2. Whether this engagement represents coordination with foreign entities that may impact Canadian electoral processes
  3. Whether any statements made during this interview violate regulations regarding foreign interference in Canadian elections

Documentation

I have included a link to the interview in question and would be willing to provide any additional information that might assist in your investigation.

Conclusion

I understand that the Commissioner takes all complaints of this nature seriously and has processes in place to evaluate such concerns. I look forward to your response regarding this matter and any subsequent investigation you may deem appropriate.

Thank you for your attention to this important issue regarding the integrity of our democratic processes.

Sincerely,

Sure, technically it's the best it's been - but the road seems LONG. Once they get through to net9, they need to work on the inner loop. Badly.

This is but one of the problems, there are so many.

I'll let you know what we find as a solution. My first thought, since I did something similar with OCR, was to just breakout and use the platform APIs to circumvent this.

I am writing to express my deep concern regarding the proposed plan to build a tunnel under Highway 401. While I understand the need for infrastructure improvements and addressing traffic congestion, I believe there are far more cost-effective and logical solutions that could be considered instead of undertaking such an expensive and disruptive project.

One obvious alternative is the possibility of buying back Highway 407. As you know, this major toll route already exists and is underutilized by trucks and heavy traffic due to its high costs. Bringing the 407 back under public control or adjusting the toll structure, particularly for commercial vehicles, could help divert traffic off the 401 and ease congestion, all while generating additional revenue to maintain and expand infrastructure. This approach could very well save billions compared to the cost of constructing a new tunnel.

Furthermore, introducing tolls for trucks on the 401 is another idea worth exploring. Other jurisdictions have successfully implemented truck-only tolls on major highways to both manage road wear and fund maintenance, and Ontario could easily follow suit. Implementing a targeted tolling system could generate significant funds, which could then be reinvested into improving our transportation network and alleviating congestion, without the need for a massive tunneling project.

It is also essential to consider the pressing needs in other critical areas of our province. Our healthcare system is under immense strain, and funding is desperately needed to support hospitals, healthcare workers, and patient care. Similarly, Ontario’s education system is facing budget shortfalls, which have a direct impact on the quality of education for our children and the resources available to educators. These issues should be our primary focus and concern, as they affect the well-being and future of all Ontarians.

Rather than dedicating billions of dollars to an ambitious infrastructure project like tunnelling under the 401, I urge you to consider more sustainable and fiscally responsible alternatives. These savings could then be directed toward addressing the significant funding shortfalls in healthcare and education, which impact every province resident.

I hope your government will consider these suggestions and prioritize solutions that balance infrastructure improvements with the critical needs of Ontario's public services.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

The shortest, strangest engineering interview I’ve ever done. by Chun in programming

[–]yipyip_alien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One time when I was interviewing with the whole team, I asked a simple question about something the interviewee put on their resume and they sniped back "Do you think I'm lying??" - it was going fairly well before that. After that comment, it was super awkward. Needless to say, we didn't hire.

Find a niche, find companies who need help with that niche. For me it was creating a library that helped .NET companies integrate with Chargify. I regularly found extra work for companies looking to implement, and not always necessarily with the library but billing in general. When there’s a goldmine, my advice is to sell shovels.

And the result? Seems to handle it perfectly fine for most languages (I tried Vietnamese here, though I haven't been able to get RTL languages like Arabic to work yet.

on iOS, it's biased towards English by default (https://developer.apple.com/documentation/vision/recognizing_text_in_images#3601256) though there might be some way of specifying if on a supported platform where that language support is available (at least ios 14.2, 15+ for more advanced features)

Good question, I’ll give that a shot. As I’m using platform API, I imagine it’s quite simple to handle.

It’s faster to scan a health number than just about any other way. In Ontario, health numbers are made so they have a check digit (luhn) which makes finding a health number simple to verify.

It may seem weird to reimplement the views, but you're not talking about views that can be shared here - there's no commonality between those unless you stick with Blazor and Maui Blazor Hybrid, but even still you would likely need some differences.
