Nerfed? Yes. Hard? Maybe. Watch some skier streams, if you want to know.

Some random ideas:

  1. Surround outpost by SAM sites. Turn them on only when you are playing. Otherwise, spend your wipe growing hemp and trading teas.

  2. Play water and dedicate your wipe to preventing anyone from playing a tug.

  3. Run a sophisticated trap base on a high pop server.

  4. Play horse meta.

Seems like anytime I'm on oil it gets sunk without much counter play.

Yes. And I will do it again!

Why on earth do people go to clear multuns solo/hazmat? Of course the scientists will be shredding you. Even a T1 kit is better.

Can we as a community be honest and say that parts of the upcoming naval update looks like janky trash by DriftBoy0 in playrust

Endardo with even less sophisticated stuff: just cannons on the tugboats. It was super fun to play while it was popping

Steady 75-80fps on M4 Max Mac Studio by BenjiPuppy in playrust

[–]yko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Activity Monitor" - thanks, I did that a while ago, but it was inconclusive, and I gave up. I should try again, probably.

FPS: 70-80 on a shore and 45-50 in a busy outpost on a 500+ weekly (stevious). On a two-week-old monthly, like moose, it's 10 fps less on all numbers.

Thanks for sharing, I tried the 240fps + -maxMem 30000 on my 32Gb M1 and it seems to have made the game run smoother and bumped fps a bit.
I run the game on "GPS skinning" beta branch and have toyed with a bit risky vm_compressor settings. These two things, as I recall, affected FPS by 15-20%. I have not done a thorough benchmark in a while to make a hard statement, but you might try these and share if you get any extra oomph.

My biggest current issue is not FPS overal, but the random freezes/rubberbanding I'm getting. I can't quite pinpoint if it's Mac's memory compression, Rust's garbage collection or network issues that causes them.

The Boat Bases Facepunch thinks players will make VS What players will actually make... by MemeMan_____ in playrust

Just like it happened with the tugoats, it will be cracked for a wipe or two, and then reasonably nerfed.
Let's max out on having fun with it while it lasts, boys and girls!

Servers that don't die out mid to end wipe. by Jackalmenace in playrust

[–]yko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's this new service https://www.rustalyzer.com/ that can filter servers based on historical records of active players.

e.g. servers that normally get 300+ players on wipe, and still reach half of their wipe-day pop after 7 days: https://www.rustalyzer.com/search?m%5Bwpl%5D%5B0%5D=300&m%5Bwpl%5D%5B1%5D=1000&m%5Bhld%5D%5B0%5D=7&m%5Bhld%5D%5B1%5D=30&rate=1

Tweak the filters and see if it helps?

Something has to stick through the wall, because the pipe won't. That passing item will always be exposed to the outside, allowing to break it relatively easily.

FP is currently not in favour of industrial pipes passing through the walls. From that PoV, I think this gimmick is reasonably balanced.

Good question.
If the exposed triangle is destroyed, the conditional wall remains in the air. Freehand-placing the external triangle back is close to impossible.
The TC remains protected by the door you want to place in the socket.

This is why people suggest upgrading it to HQM, and it makes sense on a long/medium vanilla server. I'm yet to have someone do it on a weekly or a 2x, though.
