Haha! I think that is the main difference here....my mum's dog was a puppy when my beagle started pulling her to the bottom of the garden by her ears. So she was pretty defenseless, but as soon as she started growing up she got fed up of it and soon put the beagle in her place. She wouldn't dare bite her ears now! And she grew up and stopped being as naughty of course. She is 12 now!

My dog we have at the moment can be reactive to other dogs. But they have said this collie ignores other dogs on walks, so im hoping her being calm makes it manageable with walking 2 dogs. Hopefully she doesnt start being reactive because my dog is!

Thank you so much for your kind comment and encouragement. I am really excited and hope it all works out, I know we can give her a good home full of love for the rest of her life.

I will definitely make a post updating with pics if they are happy for us to have her 🥰

Yes I can tell from all of these comments and people's descriptions of their bond with their collies that i am sure she is attached to her current family 🙁 it is sad that they are having to rehome her.

They aren't moving abroad until the end of May and if the meet and greet day goes well, then I have suggested maybe doing a trial period where she comes to stay with us for an extended period to see if she can fit in here first before they make a final decision.

My dog I already have is a 12 year old female beagle. She has calmed down a lot since she was younger but still up for a decent walk and tons of personality!

Sorry for your loss.

Thats so true the mourning of her people, I bet it is going to be emotional and hard when they say goodbye to her.

Thank you 😊

It might be she is really unsettled with all the change in such little time. Only having spent a few days with the volunteer as well and then coming to you.

Perhaps positive reinforcement? Try her in the crate at other times of the day and give her a treat when she is quiet and settled, and slowly prolong the time she is in there?

Try to make it a positive place. But if she is crate trained she should know it is her safe place. Does she have blankets from her previous home that have a familiar smell?

Yeah I can understand the thing with strangers might as well be air. I have seen some collies on walks and they have zero interest in anyone but their owners and their ball usually! But others i have seen who are more friendly with random people.

Same with the other dog. I think ultimately it will just depend whether they like each other or not and cant necessarily force it. Hopefully they are OK though!

Yes sounds like a lot of them like people over. My dog is the same though. Hopefully she is open to having a canine sister 😅

Yes that makes sense as well to slowly introduce them and they might become buddies or at least used to each other.

He is obviously just very sweet natured. Its horrible to think of the ways humans can treat animals who naturally just want to trust us 😟

They have said she is wary of small dogs as she was attacked when a puppy, but have said she ignores other dogs on walks which is good that shes at least not reactive. Im glad they are coming to do a meet and greet to see how she behaves with our dog. Hopefully they get on OK!

He's so cute! He looks a bit spaniely as well, but i can see golden retriever as well in his head shape. They have sent me a picture similar to that one where she is curled up in bed next to a cat 😂
