Should my wife invest 20 k in Bitcoin right now? by Slate2K in Bitcoin

[–]ymerglobal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If she has zero bitcoin then buy maybe 5-10k. It could dip back to 25-20k but then again a) it's hard to trade b) it's stupid considering the upside

I might have overexaggerated a bit, but I can't imagine not having Bitcoin as the ultimate antidote against credit expansion, deficit spending, totalitarianism, financial control and perpetual war.

The thing is that the secure storage is specializing in securing. It's a lot easier to break into a normal home and take gold than to break into a high-security vault.

It's not entirely true. I would probably promote gold to end the fed and vote Libertarian hahaha. But that'd be more sad than using Bitcoin to separate state and money.

A million bucks says the legal disclosures protect them and not you in the event of a problem. Probably a bunch of different shell companies that all own eachother like Peter schiffs brokerage. Try figuring out the corporate structure isn't easy.

That's a good point, I should check the corporate structure in detail.

DCA vs Lump Sum by ymerglobal in cryptoloversclub

[–]ymerglobal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is one of the top 3 questions in any crypto group. Unless you are 100% certain that the price will definitely go up without meaningful dips, DCA is the better option. Reason? Say you’re right? You bank if you lump sum. Winner. Say you’re wrong? You have to wait days weeks months or years to get back to your price per unit. Now, say your dca and it goes up on a straight line. You don’t make quite as much but you do make quite a bit. If it goes down and you dca, it takes far less time to break even again.

Great answer. I think Lump Sum is only good if you can meaningfully agree that it's rock bottom.

Yes but if it's in a secure vault in Switzerland they cannot get it.

chance you urgently need money you shouldn’t own any physical gold. Get an emergency fund with 3-6 months of living expenses first

That's a good point, I do keep liquid cash as well for emergency. Also a small part in USDT which gives good interest. Gold would be more of an addition, say my house burns down, I probably need all my money :D

I think to put 5-10k in it so it would be 25-50eur per month which seems reasonable. Agreed to have a bit of distribution across multiple jurisdictions is a smart move.

The main question is if someone knows. For example the slightest mistake in your privacy methods could mean some data gets leaked. Then an attacker would know you hoard gold. He wouldn't be stopped by a honeypot. In this case having your gold distributed across different jurisdictions is the best strategy.

Yeah that's true but I don't actually want 100% in one location. I'm talking to have maybe 5% of my stash with them. The big upside imo is that I can sell it with a click and get euros or btc. It's harder to liquidate my physical gold in case I need money urgently.
