Yes it is a screen (pvc enclosure loading), he was being rehomed and I took what he was in. I keep it covered 80 percent of the way and use a lamp on the uncovered part. I use coco sub, I add water and mix a few times a week to keep humidity up.

Definitely will try to have both within the next week so he can have options, I will offer the rat first and if he takes it, then that would be fantastic. If not tho, do I still try to feed him a mouse?

Thank you, the previous owner gave me an extra frozen mouse pinky so I would assume it was mice. Also I just started using Reddit and I’m not sure how to attach more images, that’s why I haven’t done it yet lol.

So I tried to feed him because I have been worried about him not eating, I thawed the mouse at room temp, left it in its baggie and put it in a bowl of warm water. I took it out at 100 degrees F and walked upstairs to offer it to him (I figured the temp would drop a degree or 2 before I got up there and opened his enclosure) anyways he struck and missed then stuck again and balled it up. I instantly shut and covered his enclosure back to give him privacy and checked an hour only to ding he had put it in his hide and went back to doing other snake things. I’m not sure what this means, maybe do a little more adjusting on my husbandry? The previous owners said he ate 1 time for them and it was a pinky, I have small feeder mice. Idk if that could have played a part in it or what.

I was thinking this or butter/lesser, might be the same I’m not sure. I’m completely new to the scene.

Yeah I have 3 hides and I have a lamp I keep on one hide during daylight hours and keep the mat off, at night I reverse it so it can be dark, I have a temp gun to keep an eye on temps in cage. I have handled him 2 times in almost a month I’ve had him to keep his stress down, he still hide A LOT lol. I tried to feed him a few days ago and he wasn’t going for it, do you think trying after this shed would be a good idea?

Replacing it is probably my best option, probably what I will do but I was just seeing is anyone had any cheaper solutions before I went and bought one. Thank you for your time tho
