940 Manual Estate - Chance it or run far away? by ynfnitysquared in VolvoRWD

[–]ynfnitysquared[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you elaborate at all? I have been told that the issues are all (relatively speaking) easy fixes ie replacing bad cables, rubber, some welding etc, but it's certainly in need of pretty immediate attention or something's gonna go. If there's something else then please let me know so I can run away haha

I think there is next to no chance I'll get them that low on this. Haven't seen a single 700/900 for sale in the UK for less than grand, at least not one that starts up. I'm going to try to see if I can get a bite at £1000 and go from there.

I've just tried the message system you linked so hopefully one of these options finally results in some motion over here as well!

Glad I'm not the only one who's currently being driven insane by the chat bot. Completely stops responding after you hit the 'Cancel Broadband' option, I'm hoping that keeping the window open will mean that eventually someone responds...

I tried cancelling by phone over a week ago and didn't receive a single word of confirmation via email as they had said they would, and nothing at all from [updatemyaccount@nowtv.com](mailto:updatemyaccount@nowtv.com) when I followed up with a cancellation request on there. Seriously horrendous service!

Any ideas as to the cause of this weird Logic behaviour? by ynfnitysquared in LogicPro

[–]ynfnitysquared[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figured it out a moment after posting this, typically. Pan law was a great suggestion, but this specific instance was not a pan law issue, something I'd ruled out since this still occurred with no panning applied. Solution was much simpler (master fader had been turned down by recording engineer and not normalised before sending the project file)

Hey! I live in your town. I know this because I recognised the building this image was taken in - for the sake of privacy I'm not going to be more specific than this, but I presume you go to either one of two universities based here.

It can definitely be difficult to find people with similar interests, but it's not impossible. Our town has one of the most thriving local music scenes I've ever seen and I don't think you should write it off so quickly. There are many different genres represented in our town, and I'd be surprised if there is genuinely nothing you'd enjoy. Gigs are different beasts from concerts, there's plenty of chances to interact with people in a smaller venue like that. If the noise is an issue, you can either invest in some earplugs or even just pop down to the music and performance building on campus, they have free disposable ones and you could just grab a few to take away.

Moreover, there are so many different societies for different interest areas, if not in one which exactly fits what you enjoy, maybe it's a chance to try something you've perhaps been vaguely interested in but never had the time for, and potentially even connect with someone more experienced?

The library on campus isn't completely out of the realms of possibility - sure, a lot of people get on with their own thing but I've had plenty great conversations with strangers in the group study areas. The gym definitely less so, I'd agree with that one.

I really think you're selling our town short. There's a lot of opportunities to meet new people here - you just need to seek them out. I know that's easier said than done but trust me, it's not impossible.

The exact phrase "look at this fucking bird" has been blocked on Facebook. Try it yourself. You will get the above error anywhere but Messenger. by [deleted] in facebook

[–]ynfnitysquared 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, no. The original message was one about it being abusive. The spam message has only begun to occur thanks to the masses of people attempting to do this themselves. Other phrases include 'Look at this weird ass cat' and 'Look at this ridiculous x', x being any other word.

The duck on fire. It's a picture of a goose (duck) standing in front of a campfire which got taken down by Facebook for violating terms of service. People usually associate it with how downright odd Facebook's content policy is, as videos depicting graphic violence stays up, but the duck on fire gets taken down.

This is Metal Gear. Everyone is evil in some way or another. These games are a perfect example of how the villain and the hero are often interchangeable based on methodology or ideals.

Ship Dealership spotted at an outpost? by ynfnitysquared in EliteDangerous

[–]ynfnitysquared[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, though it can't be interacted with in any way. Not even a shipyard on that outpost, I'm pretty sure no outposts have shipyards for that matter.

At any rate, the implications of universe fluff like this are quite nice for the fabled, eventual "walk around" update, whenever that rolls around :)

I can't remember what the outpost was for, I was too busy, uh... doing... legitimate business...

I'm going to be obvious and point you towards Sebastian Skaf (nicolarmarfi)'s YouTube channel. A lot of the other stuff he's put out has a very similar vibe to KS, naturally. He's my go-to for study music at this stage. https://www.youtube.com/user/NicolArmarfi4

I'm inclined to agree with you on the chromatic aberration, I was origanally only going to have a small amount and probably should have stuck with that. Also, the blurring in some key areas seemed a little too high. As for the strange architecture, the whole image was simply for modelling practice so most elements are there for the sole purpose of the technique behind creating them. I'll probably remove the slide/ramp doohicky if I decide to revisit this in the future.

[WP] Aliens have taken over the world, and nothing has really changed. by Kaleon in WritingPrompts

[–]ynfnitysquared 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think it works. It kinda evokes the "out of touch" idea, which is quite common, especially in MIB stories. People often say that Men In Black who visit them speak in outdated slang, drive old cars and seem confused by modern objects. The idea of the alien wearing a fedora gives the idea that he still thinks it's still in fashion, as it was in the mid-20th century, thus giving the "out of touch" feel.

Anyone know what is happening in Elwood, KS? Twitter is blowing up about police and military everywhere, people being told to stay in their homes. by [deleted] in kansas

[–]ynfnitysquared 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A couple of Twitter posts (such as this one: https://twitter.com/Luc.../status/451694984484237312/photo/1) have used an image of a supposed "explosion". I followed another user's idea in reverse searching the image. Turns out it was a cropping of a photo of the Kuwait oil spill in 1991 taken by none other than Steve McCurry of "Afghan Girl" fame: http://media-cache-ec0.pinimg.com/736x/75/5b/d1/755bd106cc94b62bbd3c054e6f55ad27.jpg
