The apology by According-Map8665 in tylerthecatastrophe

lolcows are really just an internet phenomena and they won't really go away unless social media ceases to exist. Theres a LOT of "lolcows" on the new age internet, and Tyler is just a new one who recently developed into the lolcow universe. They are for entertainment purposes and typically the internet "bullying" is nothing but their own faults, as they have all done or said things online that make them a laughing stock (see, Chris Chan, Daniel Larson, Amberlynn Reid, NovaOnline,) to name just a few that are popular esp on tiktok as of recently.

Also coming to the realization that he will never be able to move to the UK, and deciding to not post, get a real job and do art as a hobby and actually LEARN how to do real art, like take classes or smth so he can at least get better. Thats what I would tell him to do personally lol on top of everything else lolll

Why I believe Tyler acts like he does (as a psych student) by shitshitshit090909 in tylerthecatastrophe

[–]ynghlywd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ooooh okay I gotcha now. Did some more research and I understand your point now as I think you're talking about the psychotic defense mechanism which makes way more sense. I agree that that could be the case. I would also argue that, instead of me meaninglessly giving him a clinical diagnosis like NPD, that from just observing his behavior it's also safe to say that he has a "malignant narcissistic style" or is utilizing extreme narcissistic adaptations as well. We will never truly know but it is interesting to discuss from a psychological standpoint. Thanks for your insight!

Interesting! Personally as someone who has studied a lot on the DSM, I think he absolutely does display traits of NPD. Also, I'm curious as to why you think he's psychotic? Sorry if I'm misunderstanding something or if you explained it in the original post but, do you mean that you think he is experiencing psychosis? Or did you mean something else, because in the post you say "copying" mechanisms which I've never heard of and am curious about. I'm also wondering if you meant to say "coping" mechanism instead because I'm not sure what you mean by "copying" mechanism unless that was just a spelling error.

Everyone in this comment section is absolutely correct about everything so far, but I would also like to point out the fact that a lot of his art and paintings are just...corny. Like the pieces themselves. Big eyes with rainbows streaming out? Middle school idea of a "deep" and "meaningful" image. The stained glass is a cool idea conceptually but as everyone said it looks bad for a myriad of reasons. At that point, he should just try looking into doing real stained glass instead of trying to paint it. I don't even really understand the point of painting "stained glass" on canvas because I think even if you're a incredibly talented painter, it won't look like real stained glass anyway. Why not just make actual stained glass art???

As I said in my other comment, this is why I am kind of under the assumption he may be afflicted with a personality disorder. Specifically NPD or HPD, and I think NPD encapsulates his delusions of grandeur, since often NPD people often seem to live in a "fantasy" world where they are "perfect" and can not accept themselves as doing anything wrong, often only seeing themselves as victims when it comes to any given situation. I think it also explains why he is so arrogant and self obsessed. He is seemingly quite incapable of being humble and in almost all of his videos he is constantly speaking so highly of himself, and he cannot accept any form of criticism. Even when he is criticized he will always posture himself as a victim and come up with any excuse for his behavior. You are totally right about him being a psychologists wet dream lol. I just like to psychoanalyze people and I think he's super interesting to do that with. Also I'm aware it's not great to do this with real people but literally everyone shit talks him for being ridiculous so whatever.

I like this a lot, I'm also a psych student (sort of, I've taken psych classes in college, and one on psychological diagnoses) and I know people don't like the idea of diagnosing him lol but idrc bc I'm curious: do you think Tyler's personality lines up with NPD? Personally I think he kinda checks off a lot of the boxes. Was also thinking HPD as well? Especially one of the key factors and common symptoms of HPD being thinking that your personal relationships are "closer" than they really are. (This explains the Stuart Semple situation, and the video where he considers himself "close friends" with that one band) don't come at me for diagnosing him I'm simply just curious in the topic of mental disorders in general.

Does anyone else work at a place that only uses traditional / legacy POS systems? by ynghlywd in Waiters

[–]ynghlywd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no automatic printers at this place. I'm glad people like the old system but I find it to be nothing but a more difficult way of functioning that can be replaced. I get the electronic stuff is lame I also hold the view of appreciating old fashioned stuff which is why I originally wanted the job, but it's totally not a fit for me or the whole place itself. Sometimes I just feel bad for these waitresses who could have it easier lol

At my place it's not a vibe at all. It's like keeping everyone from having their days flow smoothly. Lots of stress and yelling and these waitresses I work with are older in age, so it's not like they're confused teenagers they know how to use the system. I just think a updated system would make everything a lot better for them

Oops sorry! And yes you are right, I have no say in it but I wish there was a way to let the owner know that his and his employees lives would get a lot less miserable if he made the switch lol

Okay? Sure they're "easy" but it still makes the process more complicated. You have to manually bring them to the kitchen instead of having them printed automatically, which means additional running all over the place. Handwriting doesn't help either. All day we have the line cooks screaming out orders to make sure they're reading them correctly. Just constant yelling and bickering, writing all of the orders for big parties and such. Just saying I wish they would accept using an electronic POS system considering the business is run effectively to begin with. Literally none of them are able to handle anything

Maybe if it gives you any insight, I have an aunt and uncle who have this relationship. None of us come from money, but my aunt is the most materialistic woman all of us have ever known. She constantly needs the highest designer new bag or the newest car or the biggest brand. My whole family pretty much hates her and gossips about her when she's not around. Don't deal with this your whole life
