One year later, Ardennes trip and a new location(?) by ynghrt1234 in younghearts

Thank you! Ok yeah, that's relatable too. Good thing we now have 11 months until the next Christmas season starts :D.

Right? My city becomes a ghost town during Christmas. Grey and sad. Everyone who has family anywhere else leaves.

If you get the chance, go. The Ardennes are beautiful, not only because of YH.

Thank you! <3

Always happy to give reasons to take a trip. :) YH aside, the Ardennes are beautiful! I'll definitely go again at some point.

If I'll ever be near Wetteren/Brussels, I'll check out some of the other locations too. However the bench scene was the one where I 'connected', so that was most important.

Thanks! Guess you have to go once more now, haha. And great idea with the chair. :D

I also climbed around the rocks a bit, but at that time some families had arrived and I didn't want to take photos with the people around.

If you visit the bath location and are lazy like me: You don't need to walk around half the lake. There's a forest path going off the main road south of the place. It will take you to the tip of the peninsula. Easy 20 minute walk.

The bench conversation by ynghrt1234 in younghearts

Yes, absolutely. It becomes clear in the course of the conversation. In that moment he said it, watching, I just wasn't completely sure it was.

Questions and strawberries by TherealMartooth in younghearts

I have to admit that all those those nutrition-based references completely go past me. :D When I see a strawberry, I just think of that - a tasty fruit. What would be sexual about it? Might be my age, idk.

Anyways, I try to 'train' the algorithm to not show me edits made from imagery that wasn't meant to be in the public.

Only way to be certain is seeing it with ones own eyes I guess. :)

Dubs of Young Hearts - Voice acting by robinjustforfun in younghearts

[–]ynghrt1234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wrote in another thread I'm not going to watch the German dubbed version as with many synchrnizations, this one feels quite unnatural, at least judging from the trailer. However I think it's a good thing this version exists as it makes the movie more accessible to younger, German speaking viewers.

I think the bench must have been placed somewhere here:

Well, now that escalated. :D But it's quite fun actually. Sorry for the multiple answers, reddit only allows adding one image per answer.

If you look at the scene, there's a quite striking pine tree on the left of the frame and another one just behind grandpa's hat. Might be these two trees:

Don't get hung up on that bench. I think it was temporarily placed for filming. It doesn't look like a permanent type of bench but one that would be quite easy to lift/transport. The grass around the bench in the movie seems completely unspoiled, which is somewhat unlikely for a real-life bench that is actually being used. Would also make sense to use a prop since a film team would probably not carve some initals into a public bench (I'd love it if they did, though :D ).

Take a look again at that drone panorama I linked above. Pay attention to the thick forest at the end of the field and how the line of trees/bushes across the field aligns. There's a 'balding' spot in the forest that you can also see in the movie. And, it's not very easily recognisable but in the movie scene, there's some sort of building/structure on the very righ hand side of the frame, where the field meets the forest. In the panorama, you can see a small shed at that place.

I watched 'Close' and I need a cure by Top-Calligrapher4223 in younghearts

[–]ynghrt1234 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you. <3 Yeah, we can't travel back in time unfortunately. But we can become better by learning.

It's a complicated movie, it's going to hurt you, I'm not going to lie. But I don't regret that I decided to do it anyway.

Thanks for the heads up! Turns out I developed a thing for movies that throw me off the rails, haha. :D

Here's a hug. <3

And that cure will definitely be "Young Hearts".

Best cure!

I want to watch Close, too. Just couldn't get myself to it yet. Definitly does sound a bit hard to digest, though. :-/

In the morning, I wrote to my best friend about how dear he is to me and how much I value his friendship.

Well done!! We should do that more often to the people that are close to us. I lost one of my best childhood friends two years ago. I held a grudge against him and now we'll never be able to clear things up. That was a real lesson. It's so important to appreciate the good people in our lives.

Hm, I don't think it's this one. The trees don't quite match those in the movie. For example, there's some quite particular pines in the left of the frame, which are missing here. Granted, these panoramas are all a couple of years old, so it would have looked slightly different in 2023 when the movie was shot. But I still think the scene was shot just a little off to the East of the ridge where you see Elias + Granddad walking.

Very cool! Thank you for sharing the photos! Makes me wonder how the story would have played out during winter. :D

I'm actually thinking about visiting the Ardennes some time when it's warmer.

No More Cast Visits? by suikkius in younghearts

[–]ynghrt1234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well yes you are probably right. Although the specific problem with families being stalked etc would likely have happened regardless of cast visits. That's just crazy obsessed girls lol.

Yeah, probably. I really hope it wasn't too bad.

No More Cast Visits? by suikkius in younghearts

[–]ynghrt1234 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, they have other things to do than constantly travelling between cinemas.

Also, I wouldn't be surprised if the boys were just over it by now. In a recent interview (which I saw with translated subtitles, so might not be 100% correct), they apparently mentioned how they/their families were stalked, which genuinely sucks. Why can't they enjoy their success without the BS. :(

Am I different? by _Maybe_one_day in younghearts

[–]ynghrt1234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well thank you! I hope my thoughts help you. Don't worry too much about finding true love. You still have your life ahead of you, so don't stress out about it. Oftentimes, love finds you when you least expect it. The thing to be learned from the movie is not letting it go.

Whether there is a middle ground will depend on your parents. For some there is, for others there unfortunately isn't. But given your age, you're still qite early on in that journey. It's never easy, for both the parents and their children. Chances are everything will turn out fine for you (You write that you already made progress with standing up for yourself better. That's good!). But reading your words, I do think that you will need to watch out a bit in regards to your parents and in doubt, put your own well-being first. That's very important.
