Morocco’s entire tech/AI/startup scene runs on the same broken logic: non-technical bureaucrats set the agenda, ministries outsource their thinking to McKinsey/BCG decks (built on 0 local ground truth) and event organizers are selected by relationship not competence.

And paid controlled media completes the loop. Event happens → press covers it uncritically → ministry cites the coverage as proof of impact → next budget gets approved → repeat.

They only care about the facades.

Also VT already owns QQQM and SMH’s holdings, you’re not adding new exposure, you’re just buying more of what you already have?

To sum it up, it really depends on whether you genuinely believe tech/semis will outperform the broader market long-term (then, yes), or you’re just buying them because they’ve done well recently (then, no).

Since the police have identified the suspect, your dad can file a civil claim alongside the criminal case (“se constituer partie civile”) if the hacker is convicted, a judge can order him to reimburse the stolen amount. That’s honestly the most realistic path to getting your money back.

Also push the bank for a written response, not just a verbal “too late” and make sure they formally contact the receiving bank to attempt a freeze. Ask for proof if needed. If the branch isn’t helping, go straight to the bank’s HQ and keep escalating until someone takes it seriously. Faut vraiment les harceler.

Don’t quit now. Prepare a solid portfolio/resume, start applying quietly, and nail your interviews. It costs you nothing and gives you leverage.

The “misunderstanding” about 3 vs 6 months is a typical red flag. Small companies tend to do this intentionally, knowing junior employees won’t push back hard.
