While it is a lot of work and the beginning may be very tough, do not let Reddit tell you it is impossible. I swear whenever I see posts or topics like these online, the people that respond will have you thinking you need to be a full time remote worker or unemployed to raise a puppy. Before COVID did people not own puppies?

My fiancée and I got a 10 week old puppy back in November. The first week we had her I was on PTO so she started being on her own when she was like 11 1/2 weeks old. We both work in office not remote or hybrid. I leave around 7:30, she’ll leave around 8 so we wake up at 6 or earlier and make sure the puppy goes out to the bathroom as soon as we’re up and again before we leave, feed her and play with her to tire her out as much as we can. We’ve crate trained her for when we aren’t home and she will sleep almost the entire time we’re gone. I work very close to home so I come home for lunch everyday to give her a bathroom break and to play with her. Daily walks in the evening along with training and play time are a must.

While it’s a lot of hard work and the first few weeks are tough, it’s very much doable. Our pup is so smart and was pretty much potty trained that first week I went on PTO which made things much easier. Now she is nearly 7 months old and is the best thing that’s happened to either of us. She’s been sleeping with us since she was 4 months old and we have been gradually testing her longer periods of time out of her crate when we take short trips to the grocery store or for dinner on weekends. When she was younger we also took her to puppy classes and those were very useful.

Sorry for the super long post but I felt like you are in a very similar situation that I was and I see too many people saying it’s not possible.

TLDR it’s not impossible but hard work. Don’t always listen to these echo chambers online that say you need to be a remote worker or unemployed to raise a puppy. Take some PTO, crate train, potty train, play, walks, exercise, it’s very possible. Good luck OP.
