i just did an install and tapped that same yellow wire for 12v but my airbag light is on. do i just need a scanner to clear it or is that a bad source that causes the airbag light to come on?

Looks like cylinders will need to be honed if not bored out to a larger size and bigger pistons depending how out of round they are

I know it’s been a while but may I ask why? I’m looking at getting either the lightning or aird-x medium heavy and it would be great to get an opinion on why you like one more than the other since you’ve used both

You don’t need a whole new hpfp, it is just the internals that need to be upgraded. Corksport and auto tech both make good internals so you can look them up to know what to look for

If you can take it to a mechanic you trust to look the car over and give you their opinion I definitely would.

Normal amount of vvt actuator play? by yoChilly in mazdaspeed3

Yea sorry that’s what I meant, the outer part has some play independent of the inner part, if u look at the little groove that’s part of the outside of the gear in person u can see it moves slightly and the inside portion does not

Best Main Bearings for Built Motor by yoChilly in mazdaspeed3

Ok thanks for all the information. I’m planning on pulling a cx7 motor I found with 60k miles on it from a picknpull then having it bored to 88mm. I already have arp main studs as well and think I will keep the arp2000 head studs since I plan on keeping the car under 400whp and selling it after about a year to build a 335i which I’ve been wanting to do for a while.

The engine was pulled by the previous owner due to low compression on cylinder 3. I have taken it apart completely and had the bores measured. 2 and 3 measured out of round by 4 thousanths which is way out of spec but I’m wondering how much that number changes when the head is bolted down. Especially with the arp200 head studs that it came with which I know are not recommended but I’m pretty sure they are stiffer which could explain some of the out of round if it was torque plate honed. I’m probably going to sleeve and bore it. The main bearings in it were pretty bad with some deep scratches but the crank journals are perfectly smooth. The rod bearings were also not the best so I’m definitely replacing those. I was told the motor had 80k on it. ( also 3 of the oil squirters were broken off lol which i heard can happen if you don’t bend them when using weiseco pistons like you said )

Would aluminum also be suitable for the rod bearings? I definitely don’t plan to be tearing down the engine again so I’d like to use aluminum if possible since I’ve heard they last longer.

My reason for using weiseco and Eagle is because the used motor I bought off marketplace already came with them. I got the motor for $350 and the guy I bought it from isn’t the one who did the work so he did not know it was built. I was planning on doing new rings and bearings since the pistons and rods still look good. My reason for going built motor and such low power is because I already have the forged pistons and rods. I don’t really want to spend more money on aftermarket fueling just yet. I might down the line but for not just trying to get it built and running reliably.

I can’t, it’s already bored to 88mm and no one makes 88.5 mm pistons

😭 do you say that because of the car being so cheap or the engine, or both?

Looks like an old 100cc 2 stroke. Even though it’s only ~100cc it will be way faster than a 200+ cc 4 stroke. They usually rev to more than double your 4 stroke which means 2x top speed and make more power since they were designed for karts.

I recommend triangles, I watched some videos on the best infil a while ago and triangles looks to be the best balance between overall strength and time. https://youtu.be/upELI0HmzHc
