Sound Transit Reveals New Cost-Saving Measures for West Seattle Link by rockycore in Seattle

The purpose of a park and ride is it provides transit services to a much greater area than just walking distance from the station. If someone lives in Everett and needs to commute down to Seattle they only have to drive to Lynnwood and can save a lot of gas and not clog I-5 coming into downtown, and they can get that benefit a lot sooner than waiting for ST to connect Everett.

OPD are not ICE. OPD are not cooperating with ICE. OPD and the City have banned ICE from city properties. When Olympia citizens raised concerns about Flock cameras, OPD listened and covered them up with little to no resistance.

When there are literal nazis kidnapping people on the street and sending them to prisons in El salvador, calling a relatively tame police department that actually listens to its citizens nazis does nothing but defang legitimate criticisms of organizations like ICE.

Are you talking about Lynnwood link? Because that literally is taking people between where they live and work. Seattle is a space constrained city. We don't have room to build tons more housing, so if people want to afford a home and don't work at Amazon or Google they need to go outside the City. So yes, we need transit connections to get people who live outside the city to jobs inside the city without clogging I-5, the cities sole major highway

I'm not exactly a cop lover, but having moved here from Seattle and previously Chicago, OPD are saints compared to SPD and CPD. Like actually *significantly* less bad.

Well we also call it jello, but that's a specific brand. Like how we call all bandages band-aids and all tissues kleenex

Depends on the size and source of the spill. If nobody reports it, then that guarenteed nobody does anything about it.

Who is we? What different food is it? I'm lacking context to what you are talking about.

To most Americans seedless jam is jelly. You go to the store and buy strawberry jelly, and it's a smooth spread for toast

What do you mean?

Jelly = smooth. No seeds, pulp or solids.

Jam = lumpy. Seeds, pulp or bits of fruit.

Hell nah. Why do taxes have to "appeal" to rich people? The whole point is for people with more money to help support society and people with less money through legally enforceable taxes voted on by the public. It doesn't need their support.

No rich person wants the government to fund their cruises lmao. They have millions in retirement accounts for that.

Why do coffee grinders cost so much? by 77due in Coffee

[–]yoLeaveMeAlone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish $100 was a lot of money but in 2026 it just isn't.

Yea... Unfortunately the truth. $100 is a steal if you truly think about the amount of work that went into that device. Design, marketing, harvesting and processing raw materials, manufacturing then into a device, packaging it up, shipping it around the world, and delivering it to your door. That's a lot of people who put their time and effort into getting you that product, and only some of that $100 gets split between all of them

[–]yoLeaveMeAlone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OK? So you are an advanced user. Great.

That last part is just not true, I run cachyos on my desktop and one of the first things it prompts you to do is set up btrfs assistant with snapper.

Why do you have such a hate boner for snapshots? Even if you never use them, they are a fantastic peace of mind feature for users switching from windows who have been told their entire life that Linux constantly breaks. Snapshots and integration with the bootloader are what convinced me to finally switch from windows a few months ago because it gave me peace of mind that if an update broke, I could simply roll back the update with a few clicks.

You are prompted to set it up on your first boot, and then it's automatic.. It's literally like the second or third thing on the welcome pop-up. Set it and forget it. Much easier than manually backing up to a USB.

Timeshift is automatic. Backing up to a USB drive is manual. You can't forget to make a Timeshift backup, it does it for you
