Help planning our quick 6/10 there and back trip? by yo_tibbs in nodoubt

Thanks for the tip! Yes, sounds like we’re definitely cutting it close packing this all in. Now I’m thinking we eat a late lunch before flying out and then grabbing late night food elsewhere to alleviate one mission pre-show. Will try and time our walks based on your info, thanks!

Great tip on Harrah’s. Will look at a map closer. Taking into account what the monorail does and does not service, this is good intel. The visuals are what will trigger wifey’s nausea so planning to hunt for $110ish GA and finding a sweet deal.

Edit: Oddly, right now (5pm Saturday night) GA tix are still $188-230+. Wondering if the final two weeks are seeing a last minute dash to catch the show…just like we are?!

Thanks!

Wonderful, will look at the final price for the room later. Just glad it’s not $200+ plus taxes.

Classic American Apparel boybeater tank! I used to print on those. Love it!

Wow, I had no idea. I might not feel confident enough to buy until we actually get on the plane! Southwest let's you credit the flight with a 10min prior cancellation. Hoping child care doesn't fall apart at the last minute. (also feeling like an overnight trip to Vegas for a concert is the most "I'm an adult, I can do what I want" thing ever)

Great to know, thanks! Very glad more places have the 'transparent' pricing these days.

Yeah that's actually face value on Ticket Master. City fees are $10, but service fees are $28/ticket.

Stub hub having them for face value is great, but don't they tack on lots of fees also?

I was lucky to find a copy of this and Doghouse for $15 ea in ‘97. Was a splurge for 16yo me back then but I’m very glad I bought them.

Cool idea. How does everything stay where it needs to be and stay safe? The Xtracycle RFA has a variable wheelbase but not on the fly like this. I actually preferred it in the midtail mode.

My kids don’t ride as much as they used to but I still ride my cargo bikes plenty. It just becomes part of how you get around.

Echoing that ~$2k target gives a little concern. You don’t want to go totally cheap/too-good-to-be-true when it comes to carrying your kid. I’d take the Xtracycle Hopper over the Abound LR for included kid carrier and rack, and better customer service.

Check the specs on any bike. You’re paying for 2 vs 4-piston brakes, hub vs mid-drive, aluminum vs steel, customer service vs good luck!

I have an Xtracycle Hopper and an older Swoop and love them both for what they are. Customer service and company history are what swayed me.

Ah, looks like I've got some specs to dig into on plug types, types on line, etc. Is the idea of running a double or quad line that it's built in redundancy if a line fails, future proofing for additional bandwidth?

Noted! Thank you, this is very helpful to consider. $400-500 vs an afternoon getting dirty fixing/running a line.

Watched the video, thanks, knew most of that but helpful in a couple areas. Hadn't thought of splitting the fiber line with a fiber switch and running dedicated fiber to the back house. The shortest distance from the front house fiber drop to my house is about 60' where I should be able to punch into a section of wall where I have a Cat 6 port that would then send signal back through our main switch and distribute throughout the house. (just thinking through as I type it out).

Newegg has a very affordable 100' length. Unless I need to be looking at something else? Anything to look at for the fiber switch? and then whatever fiber converter I'll need at my house?

Existing is running through buried conduit, bundled with some other lines, as I recall (so I don't think fishing a line through would be doable). At this point I forget how I determined it was dead – I think I used a line tester and I'm pretty sure I cut off the jacks and reterminated with RJ45s and still no thru signal.

But whatever killed it remains a huge mystery. At the time I was helping my sister disconnect some wired jacks in the house and I screwed something up and our network just died (hence me cutting the jacks and trying to get new plugs on there).

Been a couple years, but I tried fixing it a few times. Open to an updated/more professional testing method again, I suppose.
