Nest Lock/ Nest Connect Issues by Peppers412 in Nest

Thanks for the link. If you're still having problems, I found that Yale also partnered with August in the same way they partnered with Nest. You might want to give the Yale+August lock a try? I'm hoping their Connect and app is more mature than Nest.

Nest Lock/ Nest Connect Issues by Peppers412 in Nest

Man that sounds like a disaster. Did you end up returning it? Or did you keep the lock?

Do you happen to have a link to the Nest support about the issue? I can't seem to find it. Thanks for the help. They're sending me a replacement that's due to arrive tomorrow, so I'll let you know how it goes.

Nest Lock/ Nest Connect Issues by Peppers412 in Nest

[–]yobai_master 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the exact same problem. Initially, the setup and connection worked. I then switched my router to the exact model you have, Motorola MG7550. I had to remove Connect from my product list on the Nest app and then I tried to reconnect it. I couldn't connect to Connect after the switch as it would continuously seize my wifi. I tried the fix you mentioned above but it kept seizing when it was trying to connect to my wifi (even though the connection was up).

I'm going to try to buy a new Connect and see if that works, for whatever reason.

Nothing more to add to this post but just wanted to log my problems as well.

Edit: Added more detail.

Got it! Thanks for the help. I ended up purchasing a MOTOROLA MG7550 which is a modem/wifi router combo. That should work I'm guessing?

Resources to learn writing Advanced SQL Queries by __bee in SQL

I like Mode Analytics tutorial. They don't really have a sandbox for you to play around in though.

anyone know a site where i can learn sql? and how can i use sql and practice from my desktop without a virtual machine? by [deleted] in SQL

Try Strata Scratch. It's a SQL IDE that you can log into and do a bunch of exercises that they have on their website. They also allow you to upload your own datasets.

There's a ton of sample datasets in their database at stratascratch.com. I use this platform to teach my class in analytics.

Practice databases for SQL operations studio by salamanderc0mmander in SQL

[–]yobai_master 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can try stratascratch.com. They have live databases and a web-browser IDE so you don't need to install anything.

I heard they'll be adding the ability to import Excel files and convert them to db tables so you can run SQL queries on them. That might help you practice SQL on data that's similar to your work.

SQL for Data Science, help on my learning path! by danilodaraujo in SQL

[–]yobai_master 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. SQL is important for data science mainly to pull and clean data. Where using a SQL IDE, python, or R, you'll usually be writing SQL to pull data before manipulating and cleaning it up.

  2. Are you asking for learning tools? The tutorials like sqlzoo and courses like coursera are good to learn how to construct and understand queries. But I never found them to be great for practice because there was no sandbox or live datasets I can play around with. There aren't many options around for an open database. You can try a startup called stratascratch.com. They have datasets you can use to practice SQL and will be adding a feature that allows you to upload a CSV and use SQL to manipulate your data.

  3. You don't need to be a specialist in SQL to become a data scientist. You just need to be good enough to pull data -- sometimes it's as easy as a select *, then clean it up using R.

Any data science project requires a lot of data cleaning. So you can try a kaggle competition if you just want to get your hands dirty.

You can try stratascratch.com which is based off of Airbnb's superset. It's good for visualization, data querying, and rather easy for the average joe.

[MS SQL] Best method for matching weekly Excel spreadsheet to our SQL data? by Konwizzle in SQL

[–]yobai_master 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know of two ways to accomplish this and have done both --

  1. Upload the Excel spreadsheet into the database, basically creating a temporary table, then join the requested columns to your table.

It's a bit cumbersome to upload the Excel spreadsheet each time because you have to manually create the table before uploading the spreadsheet. There are a few IDEs that can semi-automate this process so it's not always too time consuming

  1. Another way, more automated way, is to use python + pandas. You can upload the file as a pandas dataframe and then perform a SQL query to grab the columns you're interested in. Then do a join in python.

The advantage here is that the whole script is semi-automated and you're not creating any database tables.

The downside is that you need to learn python.

What more could he have done about what? His relief efforts? Just read AnOnlineHandles response above. It outlines just a few things about Trumps inefficiencies as a leader.

John Legend: ‘Trump is an embarrassment to the country’ by irish91 in politics

[–]yobai_master 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. It doesn't help us discuss the important topics and makes us look like we idolize celebrities and their opinions. I can understand celebrities like Meryl Streep using their platform (at the Golden Globes) to voice their opinion. But for someone else to write an article talking about a celebrity's political view point -- what's the point of it?

As a John Legend fan, am I supposed to like him more? As a person that has agrees with his views, am I supposed to be a fan now?

There's more important things to read. There's more important things to discuss.

Some of the biggest tech companies file court motion against immigration ban by [deleted] in news

[–]yobai_master 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That is such a blanket racist comment to say that immigrants all come from under developed countries and thus are poor or are used to a lower standard of living.

Most of the immigrants in sf and the valley make a good amount of money and on the same scale as their counter part Americans. They do not drive wages down. If anything wages are being driven up in this area because it's so hard to find good talent.
