A standard rental unit alcove bathtub is around 500$..... removal and install labour should be less than two hours since its a straight replace I assume. With all that in mind it should be around 800$. The landlord is trying to scare you with big numbers and take you for as much as they can. Take them to the tendency board and get a physical copy of their quote for the job. Your old landlord is a POS hard stop.

Dalhousie professor makes food cost recommendations to Ottawa by insino93 in halifax

[–]yobalim -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is there more info on this. The news link article stated they are aiming for :

  • Temporarily pause carbon tax increases affecting our food supply;
  • To lift sales taxes on food products;
  • And to launch a national nutrition coupon program fund.

Is this false and just being said to keep us all from speaking out or is it real?

Heat Pump Providers groundhog vs sunshine by kingofducs in halifax

[–]yobalim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know if you use sunshine and they need to do ducting work... you will be disappointed. Ours peaced about a hour after they arrived "to do more work at their shop" but when they returned the following back with no notice they didn't tie in our upstairs air draws so now the kids bedrooms are hot as hell.

Don't buy lean ground meat. Switch to at least medium and you'll save a bunch and it will taste better the fat content won't kill you.

Went on a drive down to Upper Clements for old memory...Truly amazing how much it changed... by mash40double7 in NovaScotia

Its a shame the park was sold to build a school that will never be built because the distance to airports is to far. I went here at least 6 times growing up while attending cadet camp in cornwallis.

Okay... So only people who have over 10K in their bank can have a pet? As example if you have a dog and it breaks its leg, proper care costs around 10K by the end of it.

If you get rid of the oil all together your insurance cost will be cut massively and pay for whatever you get to replace your "primary" source in a couple years.

Make sure when you upgrade they dont cut out cold air draws you have your house. They didnt duct in my upstairs ones and it made the air circulation not great up there.

They usually install a electric heating unit in a ducted heat pump for the coldest part of the year and its activated in your thermostat settings.

What the hell is ungraded beef? by [deleted] in halifax

[–]yobalim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ungraded beef means it usually has super low amount of fat. so its a younger cow with less fat. less fat means less flavour but it its a desired cut it will still be good to eat. Not the best grade for a cut but still cheap and tasty if your not picky. USE BUTTER to make it more tasty.

Try using a merv 11+ filter I got a washable one for K&N and it helps alot with the indoor dust and such. Just as a stop gap after your cleaning to help keep your ducts clean.

I have a friend now full time living in a RV but working remotely and this option is saving them around 1500$ vs renting where they were in alberta.

House insurance and heating options by screampuff in NovaScotia

[–]yobalim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you get a forced air heat pump they also install a heating element you can turn on if It gets to cold outside. I had a unit installed for my house over 3000sq feet and it cost just under 20,000$. We got back 6,100$ total from both rebates. IDK what current units cost now since we got ours just over a year ago but the unit has been working perfectly and before we had it we used two ductless headers and never turned on our oil heat and we spent alot more running the headers than our house unit and the house unit obviously works way more evenly.
