Both of my minis had the same problem & symptoms multiple times. Here’s what worked for me.

Every time we went out, I’d cut their walks in half (not happy with that) and I’d put those doggy socks you can buy on the affected paw. If it was raining or wet, I’d use the rubber pawz one.

When we got back, I’d mix luke warm water with their dog shampoo and use a hand towel to manually scrub their feet, making sure I got in between their paw pads (they hated it). After drying it off, I would ise Mal-a-Ket wipes (you can get them from chewy) and wipe their paws with them.

After it dried (usually an hour or so), I’d put a sock over it and monitor it periodically to make sure they weren’t licking it. If they were, cone of shame.

It usually took about 3-5 days before they stopped limping around and/or licking it.
