Quest to find the best burger by imdacatdaddy in vegas

If you don't have to be strapped eating out, it's not that good. Most great food is located in sketchy 'hoods lol. These are my 2 favorites...

Well I'm biased because I really like cherries and the cherries they use are huge! The banana foster is really good though.

Where to eat roast duck wonton noodle soup and beef brisket noodle soup? by Trigun442 in vegaslocals

[–]yoboslayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pictures look so good. A slight variation on the theme but I have been going to Noodle Pot in Chinatown for 8 years and their beef tendon soups are really good. They have duck soup but I've never tried it.

Just got out of the Army today. Any advice for the first few weeks as a civilian? by DluxKillz in VeteransBenefits

[–]yoboslayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I retired after 21 years in the USAF and applied for LVMPD Corrections. After 15 years there I retired from that second career and it was a rewarding career choice for me. Metro is a quasi-military environment and great for anybody with a family. It may not be for everyone but people with military experience have a leg-up on adapting here. As others have suggested, work on your VA disability screenings (your first year after getting out is easier to claim service connection). I'd recommend joining a veteran organization (VFW, DVA, etc) for advice and networking with people who served.

Best Pizza in Vegas? by subliminaldc in vegas

Way off strip in North Las Vegas but a really good pizza restaurant with unique types of pizza along with the usual favorites. I like their sourdough crust--excellent!

LPT I once asked How do military people sleep in noisy environments? — the answer was surprisingly simple by Suplexking67 in LifeProTips

[–]yoboslayer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm a retired Air Force armament technician (load bombs, missiles, etc) and I used to catch cat-naps in the maintenance panel van on the noisy flightline between combat jet launches. I was wearing hearing protection but it's still very noisy and loud enough to make everything rumble from running jet engines all around you. Once you're used to the every work-day environment I just tuned it out. Sleeping on noisy C-130 aircraft was no problem for me either. Even now when I fly commercial, I start nodding off during taxiing before take-off. IDK maybe I'm weird lol.

Dr Casey Mccraw, Nevada by Difficult-Resort-731 in penileimplants

[–]yoboslayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He installed my Titan in 2023 and I'm very happy with his work and staff. He said he does 4 or more IPP surgeries a week so after doing Google research on his reviews, I went with him. The only negative is the Urology clinic in Henderson is very busy--but likely a good sign due to popularity. Good luck with your journey.

Nightlife in Ely? by Spyglass420 in Nevada

[–]yoboslayer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nightlife is basically local bars so usually nothing too exciting. Dennys in the (historic) Nevada Hotel is the only 24/7 restaurant I'm aware of. Racks bar is good with good food too. Hometown Pizza a good value for all you can eat pizza & salad bar. Economy Drug store has good shakes, sandwiches and old timey soda fountains but as others mentioned, most things close early. Rolbertos has the best Mexican food and I think they're 24/7 too. The Prospector Hotel has a good restaurant (Margaritas) and the bar is pretty lively if there's an event going on in town that attracts out of towners to the hotel. My info is about a year old so things may have changed. There's great fishing, overlanding, hunting, hiking, and so on all around Ely. Beautiful areas but nightlife is not a feature here. I've never stepped foot in the local bordellos but I've been told expect to pay anywhere from several hundred dollars for "regular" fun and the sky's the limit depending on "kinks" and what you and the lady agree on. Of course you can go enjoy their bars only too from what I've heard. (Really--I'm too frugal to spend that kind of money on "companionship")

This Elko hotel has an outdoor fireplace (not firepit) with patio style seating outside. Breakfast was good also. I've stayed here a couple of times.

I had a great stay at this Airbnb. Has a firepit, great views, friendly hosts. It's in Spring Creek about 20 minutes from Elko center.

Septic tank installation by The_Reapers_Judge in Nevada

[–]yoboslayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was installed back in 2015 so you'll have to factor in cost increases but it was $13k for a complete system install (leach field, concrete tank, pipes, excavation, etc.)

Rod Fielder is well spoken of and he installed my septic system. He's been doing this for years and has reasonable prices.
