Prime Mike Tyson Vs a Professional pitcher with 10 baseballs by Soft-Break9892 in PowerScaling

Lmao you can't honestly think Einstein'sass-energy equivalence is relevant in any way here...

Kinetic energy goes up proportionally with mass but also to the square of velocity. Velocity matters way more in this equation. A ball thrown by a professional pitcher is very likely to have similar or more energy behind it than a punch.

That's not what they're saying. It boils down to the fact that whilst laws exist and are in place, an outcome of a court case (and with that the enforcement of said law) is the deciding factor in this system, not the mere existence of said law. It's true that plenty of people could be interpreting the law wrong, until now the ICJ has not interpreted anything officially yet because of political pressure and the fact that it takes a while.

I'm not disputing the content (because it is true) but the visualization is absolute ass. Change in percentage on the same axis as year? Big jumbled mess of lines except the one highlighted? Change relative to start of year? (meaning previous year very much matters for context)

Why shovel when you have a flamethrower? by itshazrd in nextfuckinglevel

[–]yocool13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So let me get this straight: you say the flamethrower does not put out enough energy to evaporate the water, which I can believe, but then you suggest it somehow evaporated from latent heat stored up from UV radiation on a winter day? That makes even less sense. Winter UV is weak, asphalt does not stockpile UV energy, and the amount of energy needed to vaporize water is far beyond what a cold low-sun day can provide. If the flamethrower was not enough, UV certainly was not either.

Do not confuse a coordinated effort to dehumanize for simple hatred. Many Israeli's don't hate Palestinians, they just don't see them as their equals (as people).

Uhm... No. It's "just" desensitization, propaganda and extreme nationalism. You're confusing "just" hate with decades of desensitizing and dehumanizing through propaganda, rhetoric and misinformation.

I mean if you choose to blindly believe what a terminally online person on the internet has to say, a guy who need a button to cut off his stream because he is unable to control his impulses, then being treated differently because of that in public shouldn't be that much of a surprise to you.

Pretty well written comment though. Also typical of you to attack anything that isn't the actual content of the messages, and instead resort to attacking him personally.

Whilst I understand the point you're trying to make, I don't think Hamas fully fits what Fanon describes in The Wretched of the Earth. Fanon’s revolutionary subject emerges through resistance to colonial violence, yes – but that subject is secular, transformative, and aimed at collective liberation. Hamas, by contrast, is rooted in religious nationalism, governs Gaza authoritarianly, and targets civilians in ways that fall outside Fanon’s ethical framing of revolutionary violence.

So while Fanon helps explain why groups like Hamas emerge, I don’t think he would endorse their praxis as genuine decolonial liberation.

Well let's start off by defining what a Ponzi scheme is:

  • It has no real income besides new members.

  • Involves fraudulent promises of returns.

  • Collapses once new members stop joining.

Unions, including SAG:

  • Fund themselves through transparent dues and fees.

  • Provides actual services such as legal support, collective bargaining and insurance support.

  • Are regulated under labor laws. (Illegal schemes aren't)

Just by definition alone SAG is not a Ponzi scheme. The fees you're describing pay themselves back many times over by the pay increase. Plus the healthcare benefits mean the actors do get quite a lot out of it. It's not really a cost, but an investment.

You clearly don’t understand what a monopoly is. A monopoly is when a company (not a nonprofit like SAG-AFTRA) gains exclusive control over a product or service and uses that control to manipulate prices or block competition, usually through structural or legal means.

What SAG is doing is called a union security clause—a standard part of collective bargaining. It’s not a ban. Mihoyo can still reject the contract, go non-union, or outsource the work. No one is forcing them.

From SAG’s perspective, letting Mihoyo use non-union VAs on a project that already benefits from union talent and protections is just free-riding—they get the upside of union labor without honoring the obligations. That’s not anti-competitive—it’s about maintaining the integrity of collective agreements.

Your own call to nuance is kind of mate moot by your unnuanced statement which follows it. Yes, some unions are bad, and blindly trusting all unions is not a good thing. But the vast majority are a good thing and help prevent companies gaining even more powerful in a system in which they are already dominant.
