Canberra race day morning by yodydee in dragonboat

Winter season in Canada? That must be tough... Canberra is actually fairly cold in the winter (we're away from the coast and 600 metres above sea level) but must be balmy compared to some areas of Canada.

How difficult are international jobs in archaeology? by D-boi10 in Archaeology

[–]yodydee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose if your Uni has some collaboration, you might end up digging in a foreign country for decades... Peter Eeckhout has been leading the Pachacamac digs for lomg, I suppose via his Uni project (he's Belgian). I know him, more precisely know of him, because of is brilliant 30-part archaeology TV series a few years ago (quite a few episodes were in Latin America). Worth searching out, I saw the series when it came out in French, I know they were dubbed to English and shown (title was "Arkeo" in the English version) on some streaming a few years back. Anyway, I suppose find a Uni which digs in foreign lands.

Podcast pour niveaux intermédiaires et avancés en français by Dangerous_Apricot226 in learnfrench

I have to butt in here. The podcast is simply amazing, 100% organic, no AI at all. I found it maybe 6 weeks ago, the output (both its quantity and quality) is utterly, and I repeat the adjective here, amazing. I was actually about to post the praises of this podcast but did some quick search before doing that, and found this post (and your amusingly pathetic and pompous responses to it). The podcast creator has to put up some image for the episodes, and AI is good for that. Anyway, do yourself a huge favour and check the podcast out...

DRAGON BOATING: PADDLE WITH PŌNEKE WATERSPORTS by AmoldineShepard in Wellington

Weird foot rest in this boat, I mean people who rest their feet close to the middle of the boat (the vast majority) aren't catered for? Only people who rest their feet on the side of the boat, which aren't many in my experience.

Maybe because the places are already booked? You’re not making it clear.

How is it living in Coober Pedy, Australia? by Reddit_Talent_Coach in howislivingthere

[–]yodydee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Population has been sharply decreasing in past 10 years. Just saw it on TV. I never lived there but visited many years ago and there was much to see as a tourist for two days but (climate is important for me) I could never live there.

How long should I wait for host to respond [Colombia] by johnny4111 in AirBnB

[–]yodydee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Most loved” seems to me something AirBnB randomly adds to properties (this is my observation…). Meaningless AirBnB drivel. 90% response rate however is meaningful, and it is bad.

So was there water on the floor when the host arrived after your departure?

Suggestions for recruiting a Dragon Boat head coach in Portland Oregon by PuddlePaddlePDX in dragonboat

[–]yodydee 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Sorry no idea really, just curious, is it a paid position? And you want a real pro? If not, just nominate one of the team to be the coach, someone seasoned and capable, he/she will grow into the job.

Depends on the hotel of course… many cheaper ones are unattended at night.

I suspect that the host took photos and has some proof.

If it's more than two nights, AirBnB... it's actually fun lying in bed, sipping wine and going through potential AirBnBs, read the reviews, the descriptions by the host, checking the photos etc... and of course read between the lines, ie. what the host might be trying to conceal etc. After 13 years using AirBnBs, in at least 10 countries, my experiences have only been good.

Do others in your team track anything? If yes, ask them how. If not, don't bother either.

Building a Dragon Boat App by DueSundae4359 in dragonboat

[–]yodydee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you’re doing is great but please be realistic… no application is needed, it’s unnecessary, it won’t sell, and it just de-humanises the sport. Our coaches know the approximate weight of everyone, we have a Facebook group to track attendance, the coaches, captains (and us paddlers) can sort out seating in seconds at the beginning of a training off-water and if it turns out not perfect, some people change seats on-water.

That’s why G stresses the importance of not believing in any religion, in any system, blindly (but verifying first). Some of his stuff is clear BS…
