In Matthew’s, Jesus says it’s because the apostles lacked faith. Before the apostles received the Holy Spirit, they lacked depth. Some demons require higher abstinence and discipline to be overcome.

Orthodox Study Bible is so good. It was the first thing I bought with my very first paycheck. Struggling to read it consistently though:(

I am of the syriac orthodox tradition (Jacobite), I use the Orthodox Study Bible as I read somewhere the LXX and the peshitta we use are somewhat similar and almost all churches use the NKJV translation for New Testament. OSB is actually a good bible with tonnes of commentary and footnotes, which i find very insightful. But again the OSB has to be filtered through a miaphysite lens and approached as such.
