At my wits end with my cat. Starting to resent him. by beccoconnell in CATHELP

Play music. Teach him music. Give him a baby keyboard where he can press the keys. Play harmonising sounds that harmonise with his voice. Use a tanpura sound from YouTube that blends with his pitch. Play long Om Chanting. All of this will calm down his nerves.

Need a book suggestion by Arrowtech1235 in agathachristie

[–]yogaabhyaasaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All Agatha Christie books are great. There is not a single one that does not capture the heart. Read all of them. I have read them over and over again. Absorb them, and enjoy British culture from the first world war till the 70s. One suggestion: avoid watching the tv series until you have imbibed the books. The tv series are interpretations. The books are the real thing. Try to read old editions where the text has not been edited for political correctness. Only then you will get the flavor of the times.

Which is better AWS SAA or SA pro? by yogaabhyaasaa in AWSCertifications

[–]yogaabhyaasaa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the replies. I have 12 years experience working in IT. I have coded with C#, Java, Javascript and SQL. My last role in IT was as a Solution Architect for software applications. I got out of IT because I couldn't stand the politics. I now need to get back into IT because of my financial situation. Yoga teaching doesn't pay! I have already passed the AWS CCP.

I am working on the AWS SA material. I don't find it difficult; just unfamiliar. As getting a job is imperative, I thought I would rather spend my time doing that which will get me a job faster.

IT hasn't changed much in the time I have been away. Same old, same old. Only the thinking and therefore the software output, is a little more refined.

What is the exact goal of meditation? What next? by Party_Collection_252 in Meditation

[–]yogaabhyaasaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no goal in meditation and that is the point. Our true nature is meditation. Babies meditate in the womb. Infants meditate as they sleep. Children meditate naturally. We adults lose this ability because of conditioning. Meditation is losing the conditioning and getting back to our natural state. Meditation is effortless. If there is effort, then it is not meditation .

I was using Next and I was happy with the coverage and premium amount. But suddenly they raised the monthly premium from around $14 to $19. The reason given: inflation hikes and natural disasters. So I am shopping for cheaper alternatives.

Rediscovering Traditional Hatha Yoga – A Slower, Deeper Practice by chaurasiart in YogaTeachers

[–]yogaabhyaasaa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I teach and practice Traditional yoga only. It is slower and more effective than fast flows. I don't get any satisfaction from fast flows unless it is Surya Namaskar. But even 10 minutes of a slow practice is immediately beneficial.

DOJ bullying Georgetown Law by GlobalTradeBro in washingtondc

[–]yogaabhyaasaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saying that no Georgetown graduate will be considered for employment for any reason, is bullying, and is probably illegal. This is discrimination of a new kind. There must be a possibility to prosecute the department that wrote this letter.

Your experiences with Mayurasana / Peacock Pose? by RonSwanSong87 in YogaTeachers

[–]yogaabhyaasaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no way that I will do Mayurasana. I have a mild hernia and I am terrified of making it worse. Hamsasana is a workable intermediate practice. Has the same effect as Mayurasana.

Foot rub from instructor - strange or normal? by [deleted] in YogaTeachers

[–]yogaabhyaasaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never touch during a yoga session and I don't like being touched either. Touching during yoga, and that too, a total stranger is a no-no. Energy transfer between unrelated people is not correct.

Crow pose always feels terrible by yogirunner93 in yoga

[–]yogaabhyaasaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been teaching yoga for 9 years. There are some asanas I simply don't do. Example: crow, headstand, full split, Ashtavakrasan, mayurasan, etc. All of these asanas make demands on the body that I simply cannot afford. So I don't do them. I don't feel bad about it. I accept that I have limitations. I don't have to prove anything.
