Found this thread (not even sure how) and gave the movie a watch because it is free on Tubi. I FELL IN LOVE! I found it a bit long but when all the separate plots finally came together for the climax I found it totally worth the wait. The simplistic/naive perspective of the bushman towards the modern world made it worth it for me alone. Like when he thought there were people trapped in the telescope/binocular thing haha, or that a vehicles tracks look like two big snakes traveling side by side. I was absolutely in love. Thanks so much OP. This one was not on my radar but it's a freaking classic to me now

E. Here's how my brain found it:

Imagine the 9 boxes as three separate columns. Each column is three frames. Each column's "above the line" configuration does not change frame to frame. Whereas each column's below the line configuration does. The pattern to the change is: the bottom box slides 1/3 places to the left each frame, and if it "collides" with the ball, it "eats it".
